I have had this Maxi Remora now for over 3 weeks. While I would not say this is a lot of time for a thorough review, I pretty much know where I stand with it.

Lets get started...

First a few portrait pictures of the pack...

To make a point in general of the construction, obviously the system is MOLLE, note the MOLLE panels on the sides and front. No need to say anything more on that really.

Now I am carrying this pack as a cross draw access on the chest. The reason being is this pack carries my camera and video equipment. The angle of the carry makes access a breeze. This is a far cry from removing my pack like before.

This also allows me to wear the pack while my rucksack is on the back.

Here are two pictures of my method of carry...

Lets get down to the construction:

Like all their stuff it boasts the same style of material and stitching. Taped seams and reinforced stress points.

Here are some pics...

Configuration:

Out front small zipper pocket. Currently carrying a lens cleaning cloth.

Middle pouch has expandable webbing and two compartments, inner most one has a key fob with clip. Currently this pouch houses 3 extra batteries, battery charger and a data cable.

Large pouch and the main compartment of the pack has three sections. One has a hook and loop panel. The middle is open and deep. The inner wall is slim and has a hook and loop closer. Currently this whole section houses a digital camera and a video camera.

The rear side has a snap closer compartment. It contains a large hook and loop panel, obviously for those wanting a concealed carry sidearm. The whole bag is anti slipping and very breathable.

The main shoulder strap support at the top is what I would call over engineered. More than sturdy for what ever your going to put into the pack.

The pack has a left and right should option at the bottom. D-rings and a clip, make it easy to switch over.

The bottom of the rear of the pack has a hook and loop fob to secure the shoulder strap if you want to top carry the pack.

This is the top of the pack carry options. Two d-rings and a hand strap.

One more feature is the bottom. Two large drain holes on the two large compartments. Lets hope I never need them hahaha.

The business:

While this item was sent to me from Maxpedition to review, I retain my opinion on what I choose to say regardless of the company's approval. Or else I would not do the review at all.

Pros: The pack is more than adequate for my needs as a camera bag, which is my only intention for a pack of this style.

The pack seems over engineered and bomb proof.

The several options of carry make it extremely versatile.

Cons:

I would have preferred the main compartment to be a full open zip. Which is to say that the zippers went open to the bottom of the pack, as to open the whole pouch to 180 degrees. This would have made for a very convenient access.

The shoulder strap MAY be too large. When loaded out you do get a little neck rub. While not detrimental, I wonder how it will play out after a 10 mile hike.

-Perhaps the strap did not need to be that wide for a small pack
-They should include their shoulder pad that they sell separate.

Overall I enjoy the pack and look forward to using it more often.

A side note on my reviews. I approach the packs review from my intention of using it not what it could be. I leave that to your conclusions. I would not carry this pack out in public, nor do I intend on making it some sort of EDC man purse. Its intention is a camera bag that will see plenty of bush time.

Thanks for checking it out folks!

I've always liked Maxpedition's stuff... great photos!:D Nice Remora... I've been considering a Lunada recently - any insight?
