I know, I know, so off topic, but it is gear related. :D

My wife is due in October with our first child, a boy!!!

All the offerings, even the ones geared towards men are still too specific and won't serve much purpose after I am through the diaper stage. Heck, most cost more than the Maxpedition stuff! :grumpy:

So, as a first time father in my quest for a manly diaper bag, I figured I should get something that will be useful when I don't need a diaper bag anymore.

So, I just wondered if the Fatboy Versipack is big enough, or would the Jumbo be "better" ??????

Thanks for any advice!

The Fatboy would probably make a good one. It is pretty big and has multiple Molle/Pal attachment points to customize for the little one.

I guess it would depend on the length of time you'll be out. I've got a fat, and I'm having my first child in Feb. so this is a good thought.:D

I guess those Versi-Paks are versitile. I thought I was being creative carrying a set of PVS-14s, a Strider EB-T, GPS and extra ammo in my Jumbo while here in Iraq, but never thought about using one for a diaper bag. Almost makes me wish I had little ones again. I think the Jumbo is a bit bigger than the Fat Boy, but the Fat Boy has a couple of extra pockets that are not on the Jumbo so it may work a little better. You can use the cell phone pouch for hand sanitizer for example.

The Jumbo has a nalgene bottle holder that could come in handy. You could probably get a couple baby bottles/sippie cups in it.
I've had both these and kept the jumbo.

Good time to buy as the new colors are showing on the website.

More feedback than I expected!!! I have been and am leaning towards the Jumbo.
Thanks for the insight so far.....keep the opinions coming!

I say do it! Diapers in the main, wipes in the front and fit the rest where you can.
Love for mine edc in the woods also:thumbup: I have the jumbo by the way.

id go for the jumbo. Always good to have a water bottle holder (or baby bottle=))

I've used the jumbo for numerous excursions - it has worked very well for carrying supplies. I would also suggest getting a portable changing pad - many have built in pockets for storing wipes & diapers. It keeps all the necessities in one place.

Definitely.....I've seen these at all the baby stores. Easy to add to the kit.

LoL. I have been using the colossus for the past 5 months. My setup, i have two pullout bags in the interior that i sewed up. one is 3X2X6 and the other is 2X2X6. the big one holds diapers. the small one holds a spare change of clothes. With this there is a slot on the inside that has my burp cloth. and another slot holds the wipes. There is a completely separate zippered compartment that i use for my changing pad so it keeps the bad stuff in its own place. I have a dump pouch on one side that is great for carrying the misc. extras if i need to. The opposite side houses a water bottle carrier. Helps to carry 2 bottles with an ice pack. keeps them cold all day. I still have the smaller compartments to myself. I carry 2 magazines and all the small survival kit stuff in the top compartment. also a slot for my blackberry and camera on a front compartment with granola bars. I also have a hook and look holster for my glock 26 in the back compartment. Honestly i looked at the other bags you are talking about and lemme tell you.....DON"T. you will regret it in the end going with a smaller bag. I will get pics posted of it....at work right now.

I've used my Fatboy Versipack as a diaper bag. It's good for a two diaper long trip. Just be sure to get a thin wet-wipes dispenser and you're good to go.

I use my Jumbo Versipack as a diaper bag all the time. I call it my "tactical diaper bag". It does a great job. You can toss a bottle in the bottle holder, a couple diapers and wipes in the main pocket along with a changing blanket, and throw a Glock in the CCW pocket. Don't forget a couple pacifiers and assorted toys.

Congrats on the baby! You're in for a wild ride. Having a kid will probably be the best thing that ever happens to you.

Congrats on the baby! I'm glad you posted this.I'll try to talk my wife into getting the Jumbo also.We are having our fourth in August. This time a boy!!! I've carried pink diaper bags half my life.I need a change. No pun intended.

Yeah, I agree...the jumbo holds more diapers and a larger CCW :D

Yes, go with the Jumbo. Good lord, that's got to be the Cadillac of diaper bags. I think Coyote Brown is the best color for it.

As a mom I vote Jumbo... as stated, more room for diapers and such, external bottle holder for bottle emergencies... good pocket features for necessaries. You may be surprised at how much stuff you need some days.
Lots of men have purchased them over the last few years just for that purpose.
And congrats!

I vote Jumbo, too. I use mine every day, and the bottle holder couldn't be more handy.

Thanks everyone! I can't wait!!!
I think I am gonna go with the Jumbo.....seems just right and then some! Probably order from Twowolves and maybe get the combo set with the M1 pouch and the Rolly Polly dump pouch for dirty diapers!
