Made in Carmel, California. Designed by Ray Laconico, each blade is hand ground by him too. Sanford Owen also does work on these knives with Ray. The tolerances are very tight and feels like a CRK. It's a very cool, solid, rugged, and EDC-friendly knife.
They've only released small batches of the Sea Otter in CPM-154 and recently released 2 batches of 5 knives in Magnacut. I got lucky and won their lotto for this frag scale Magnacut version last weekend. Richie from KnifeModders said on their YouTube livestream that Sanford gave him a slightly messed up scale and wanted him to put his bark pattern on it, but he fixed it and made it into this awesome frag pattern instead.
I hope they keep refining this awesome knife and ramp up production. It's a very good alternative to the small Sebenza. Has better action out of the box, but not as refined nor as polished as a small Sebenza, and doesn't come with CRK's box of goodies. It only comes with a pleather taco case and some swag. My only nitpick about this knife is the fact that the titanium clip is extreme narrow and tight. Very difficult to get into and out of a pocket. It's also not a deep carry clip, so about half an inch will stick out of the pocket.
A larger 3.5" version (maybe call it Sea Lion?) would be amazing for those that have larger hands or prefer a bigger knife to carry and use.
