I just finished this up the other day and thought I would share with you blade forum members!
This blade is made of 80CRV2 carbon steel:OAL 16.5" ,2"high ,0.400" thick with 11" blade length. The blade weighs 38 OZ's. It has a bamboo handle with two micarta and one stainless lanyard tube.

Thanks for looking!

Man, that's a BEAST!!! :D

Great steel too. I've actually used it for several paring knives that were ground super thin at 61/62C, and it holds up great. A big chopper drawn back a bit softer should be a cutting monster. :)

Thanks everyone! I have yet to test it because its a rainy here this weekend, but I may chop up some 2x4's in the shop. This blade should be about 59 rc. and I think it will do well.

I really dig this, not least of all because the blade looks like the worlds biggest straight razor!

Awesome - I love big choppers, especially when they don't try to wear knife points

beautiful ,stunning , I think the thinning of the tang would have been judicious:D I love it

That looks like a monster!! Imagine you'll have forearms like Popeye after using that beauty.....well done!!

What would be the point in thinning/tapering the tang? With a 0.4" thick, 11 " blade, it's already blade heavy for chopping...and what little weight that might be spared, seems like it would be just as useful left in place (though I don't make knives, so that is just this user's POV)

A treat seeing a bamboo handle.
Looks like it eats bundles of free hanging rope.
Nice work and thanks for sharing it.
