Hey guys, I have to say the Mercworx sniper has always had a draw to me. In fact, it's the first high-dollar knife I ever saw and probably helped draw me into the knife world. I just feel it looks beautiful, and now that I know more of knives I know the materials and such are also quite good. My question to those who own/have owned Mercworx knives is: Are they worth it?

I haven't seen much on these blades around the forum so I was curious what you guys think. A picture of the Sniper should be attached.

You know you're gonna buy it anyway ;)

I do not have any personal experience with the brand but have heard great things. If you love the look of it and have the money then go for it. If you find it's not worth its price tag then just send it back. That's what I did with my Umnumzaan, you can read as many reviews as you want but IMO buying it and handling it for yourself is the only way to find out.

I have a Proeliator and it's nice. Heavy, but nice. I've handled the sniper and its a fast little blade. Mercworx does an excellent heat treat on their blades. Haven't had mine chip or roll yet. S30V is a bitch to sharpen, but difficult to get dull in the first place. I believe it also comes in 154cm, which is easier to sharpen and a little less chippy than S30v. Some peeps like the standard handle, some like the chili pepper handle. I got the chili pepper because it's the only one they had. I'd prefer the standard if possible. The tip isn't needle point, which should increase it's durability. I don't understand why Mercworx doesn't get that much press, they make good stuff. They are pretty pricey, but it is only money. As always, check with your local laws, as the back is sharpened about 1/3 of the way, making it a dagger in the eyes of The Man.

I think this may be a big part of the problem. most of their blades seem to be this way, which makes them not an option for me.

Go to www.knifeup.com/michigan-knife-laws/. Look at their michigan knife law. Then cross reference with an actual attorney. Ask both a defense lawyer and the local DA. It would be especially great if you could get something written from the DA. Cover your bases, keep ur blades sharp and you'll be good to go.

Nice website, good reference. Actually, I knew that I could OWN them, but if I can't DO anything with them except look at them in my own house, what's the point?
