Micra discontinued?

With Leatherman's drive for the bigger profits on the bigger tools, I wonder how long the Micra will survive? Anyone heard any rumors?

It's 50 US dollars right now because of a relatively recent price increase. I don't know how well it actually sells, but I can't imagine its a very popular model these days due to its high price and the comparatively poor quality of the scissors. There are plenty of cheaper multitools with much better scissors compared to when the Micra was first introduced.

I think it's the only remaining key chain multitool that Leatherman makes now. I would not be surprised if it was suddenly discontinued. But I could be wrong and maybe it is still selling really well. It's available in a lot of different colors, so maybe it's still a really popular model.

I carry a Micra most days. And still have one in an unopened package in my shop which I've had since they first came out. I always thought the scissor was pretty good. But what do I know?

I have two Micras as well. The scissors really aren't that great. I've seen cheap Chinese made multitools with scissors that cut better than the Micra does. For example, my Ozark Multiforce and my Gordon Wave clone both have scissors that cut better than the Micra. And those cost 40 dollars, while the Micra costs 50, is smaller, and it doesn't even have pliers.

I've often heard that the micra scissors were a lot better when they first came out, and that the ones made after a certain point were just not as good for some reason. But I've never seen any conclusive proof of that.

I can only speak from my own experience which is to say that they've been good enough for my own usage.

But I used to open packages with my teeth, so I may not be the best source of information.

They were early on.
My micra is a '96 1st year example , and the scissors have always been pretty good.

I rolled the edge of the micra blade which was an accomplished magic trick as I don't remember what I cut with it that could have done so, besides hard packaging that contained another knife, if that did it well ---
Wouldn't say that's necessarily a good thing, I'm sure continued cutting will work it out, hopefully. As for the discontinuation, it no longer is a desired model compared to other clunkers the company makes, I'm sorry other more "robust models"

You may have created a big ol' hairy burr on the edge of the blade without realizing it. I've done it before. Sharpening on autopilot. And then forgetting to check the edge beyond a paper cut test.

Feel it with your fingers. Look at it in the light. Etcetera.

Most definitely a chip or rolled edge 🤷

It was only a matter of time for the micra after what happened or is happening to the squirt, with both gone maybe their last act is to phase out the bond
