Why did it take me so long to discover and purchase a microtech. Have been buying benchmade over the last decade and have about 12 total, brother in law showed me his utx 85 he just got.and I ordered one that night. This thing is amazing and perfect for edc, just ordered a turquoise utx 85 for a backup. Hopefully the spring holds up for quite a while, have had a few broken springs lately in my benchmades

Perfect size and weight, razor sharp, anodized handle is amazing and seems like to will hold up great to daily use. Cant find one negative so far, unless it locks up in a week. Think I'm gonna order the bit driver so I can disassemble it when needed. Could care less about voiding the warranty

Now you have the sickness, utx85 is a great knife. Enjoy using it man!

Perfect EDC OTF. Between Ultratechs, XTX-85s, and UTX-70s, Microtech has a lot of my money. :)

If you are happy, I'm happy. OTF are illegal here in MI although regular auto are now legal. I still haven't bought an auto since the law changed in late '17.

As George Constanza once said, "I'm afraid I'll puncture my scrotum"

Love my recently acquired ultratech...awesome addition to my collection.

Just sold a UTX-85 D/E.

Nice knife but just too small for me. Still have a Halo V & a Stitch which are more my style. Enjoy your new UTX-85. :)

BTW, it's commonly reported here that MT's customer service s*cks. No experience w/them myself but something to bear in mind in case you need to contact them.

The 85 is also too small for me so I tried a Troodon, which was basically just a beefed up 85, so I sold it but it might be good for EDC purposes since it seems a little more over built.

MT's customer service has supposedly gotten much better over the last few years. I only used them one time, had a small issue with an auto DOC, and it was fixed in back into my hands within a month. ymmv

I think the size is perfect for my needs and EDC. I am an electrician and carry a knife and my hds light every day, mostly just use the knife for cable stripping, cutting open boxes and stuff quite often. Love that it really is not noticeable in pocket and short enough that it doesnt sit too deep to get scratched up by keys in the same pocket. Just a tad smaller than my benchmade 940/943 which I have carried for a decade and think it's the perfect size also

Have a favor to ask. Could one of you guys with the ultratech measure the handle not including glass breaker and let me know the length. Thinking about adding an ultratech but specs says handle length 5 inches, have a hard time believing the handle is almost an inch longer than the utx85. If it is truly 5 inches long that is a bit big for my typical pocket carry

There is a big difference in the UTX85 and the Ultratech in handle, but much less difference in blade. I MUCH prefer the 85.

Microtechs custom service has improved astronomically over the years. I contacted their CS department last year for a part. They responded within 48 hours, provided easy to understand and follow instructions, and ended up sending me my part as well as a patch within two weeks time. Employee I spoke with was equally amicable.

Couldn't have asked for anything more.

Also, Microtech sends their knifes out SHARP. I've never received a half sharp knife from Microtech. Three productions and two customs in.

Great company and an excellent product.
