So, I would like to get a mid sized assault pack that I could carry everyday equipment in, use for camping/hiking, or in the field. A couple caught my eye, the Eagle Industries A-III Pack and the Blackhawk 3 Day Assault Pack. Any review of these products of suggestions for other packs would be appreciated. Would love some user insight

I use Maxpedition often for EDC as well in the mountains hiking and camping. very well made and versatile.

Thanks a lot for these suggestions. I saw some really cool stuff by maxpedition. The thing is I am not looking for a pack that includes hydration equipment. I already have a 3 liter camel bak that can piggy back on most rigs. The eagle industries one is hydration compatible but does not come with the stuff. I really liked the rolly polly extreme backpack and the pygmy falcon ii (despite the hydration gear) by maxpedition. Any more advice would gladly be appreciated.

I prefer Maxpedition gear myself, but maybe you could take a look at 5.11 Tactical's offerings.

Camelbak motherlode is another option, though it sticks out as an EDC bag with all the MOLLE.

I have 5.11 boots and they are the best I have ever worn. I took a look at their stuff (and all others that have been recommended) the rush 24 looks good but a little big. The rush 12 though seems really nice.

I have, use and love my Blackhawk 3day pack. Tough as nails and attaches to the front of my Raptor pack. Looks low proflile when I need it too.

That blackhawk is more low profile than it seems on the website which is nice. I just want a low profile bag i can use everyday but a tough one that complies with military standards that i can wear in uniform and use out in the field.

Eberlestock Halftrack or Gunslinger cost a little more but unreal quality and comfort. May try the tadgear fast pack if you can find one.

I don't think the Maxpeditions come with a hydration bladder. Blackhawks do. I've purchased 3 different Maxpedition packs and though they were all hydration compatable, none of them came with the bladders. That being said, I suggest the Maxpedition Vulture II. You can cinch it down to carry a small amount of gear or uncinch it to carry a full load on the trail. I personally think it's a more durable pack than the Eagle or the Blackhawk. Also, I recently got an Eagle Accessory and it was tagged (Made in Dominican Republic) instead of USA. I don't know if this is the new trend for all their gear. It was a shock to me. If so, the high quality that we've all become accustomed to from Eagle may start going down hill.

Been through many packs and have settled on the SoTech Mission Pack. Comfortable to carry and work/live out of, and it is American Made- George

I would also suggest taking a look at Tactical Taylor which is based out of Tacoma, WA.

I've got a 5.11 72 hour bag as well and I love it. Very well thought out pack. I really dig the new Operator line of packs from TT as well.

I returned the Tactical Tailor Urban Operator and bought the 5.11 Tactical RUSH 24 instead. The 5.11 has more features, organization and comfort…
