Military Issued Knives and Bayonets Thread

Swedish all steel M1896 bayonet.
I like these for some reason, its sleek and well made.

Knife bayonet for use on the 6.5mm M1896 Swedish Mauser rifle. The m/1896 bayonet was also used with the m/1938 Short Rifle and AG42b Ljungmann self-loading rifle.
This example was made by the firm Eskiltuna Jernmanufaktur AB (Eskilstuna Iron Manufacturing, Inc.). Approximately 665,000 M1896 bayonets were produced.

The scabbard was made by the firm of Erik Anton Berg (EAB) of Eskilstuna.
- World Bayonets.

The unit marking on the crosspiece identifies the bayonet as belonging to Rifle #1340 or #1840 (it has one damaged digit).

I have that m1896 6.5mm swedish rifle from the first contract. And a bayonet that fits it i think. I just haven’t the memory on the details. Will look tomorrow and post some pics.

There's been a lot of unit buys since GWOT started so now there are a number of knives that have NSNs and many companies GSA approved. Issued in 2005 is different than issued in 1995, heck the plate carrier I wore for years was a unit buy and issued to me.
So does the unit buy stuff get a CAGE or some other way to ID it? Or is it completely random?

In 30 years when someone is looking at that gear trying to figure out the backstory that could be handy.

I didn't know about that CAGE code until it was brought up in this thread. When I was googling it it seems that the CAGE code is for the manufacturer and the NSN is for the item. Benchmade has a CAGE code but I don't remember anything being stamped into any my Gerber multitools or my AFO

I bet if someone started tracking that info there'd be a coffee table book in it. I'm guessing they started to move fast on those unit orders for the GWOT and all that history is going to be lost. If you look at the majority of the blades in this thread they're nearly a century old.

In 2120 someone will have that old Gerber multi tool and be trying to figure out what it was used for.

The current USMC issued bayonet is the Ontario OKC3S. The Ka-Bar is still issued as well as a dedicated knife.

However, the following knives have been issued by units I have been in since 2004:
Gerber Applegate folders
Assorted Gerber folders
Gerber autos
Benchmade nimravus
Benchmade autos
Assorted Benchmade folders
Leatherman and Gerber multi-tools

I’d have to dig in my USMC goody box to get models and numbers, since all I ever carried was a Cold Steel voyager.

So here it is. If anyone has a clue what this is id be most appreciative. Ive scoured the web and found many similar, but never another exactly like it.20190216_083250-1200x1200.jpg 20190216_083315-1200x1200.jpg

It's a Yatagan\Yataghan bayonet. I know the Brits used them and I believe it's a Turkish blade style.

Thank you so much. With that info I found a exact match. It's a Turkish Peabody martini. Shame it's not in better shape; someone decided to clean the blade (with a grinder):(
