Miluakee tools has different manufacturing all over the world does anyone know if they make their Hardline folding knives themselves or if they license the manufacturing out to a knife manufacturer?

Milwaukee is based in the US. Manufacturing occurs in the US, China, Germany and likely a few other places.

I suspect their knives and other edged tools are made by the least expensive option.

Doesn't mean they suck, just means they are tools and tools fail/wear out over time. Like 'expiration dates', meant to be disused and repurchased.

Up until last year none of the hand tools were made in the USA, now a lot of their pliers are and they have USA right on the handle. Currently none of the knives are made in the USA but that may change, and I hope it does. The Rockwell on the linesman pliers is comparable to Klein and knipex which are the two best linesman pliers manufacturers

Their knives have been made in China, no real specs to speak of as far as steel type, etc. I reached out to them for info twice but never got a response. I own a couple of their pocket knives, they are OK for a cheap beater. I really like their utility knives, construction is similar so I am assuming they are made in the same place but I could be wrong

Some of their knives used to be made in Taiwan. The quality is mediocre, but good enough for trade works (which anything does to be honest).
