Anybody have any experience with one of these? I've been looking at their knives and they look good to me. They are made of 1/4 inch 5160 or 1095 Spring Steel. (58 on the rockwell C scale) How good are those steels? I was just wondering if anyone can tell me about their quality. Thanks!

Ted makes excellent big blades, and the prices are great. You won't be disapointed. The steels are good carbon steel, nothing fancy. They are tough, and sharpen easy. They will rust quite easily though. I use Tuf-Cloth on mine.

MMHW is a great company. Ted's work is awesome! Hands down the sturdiest steel around. Here is a pic of my Speed Stick Tanto: 16" black parkerized 5160 blade, 11" black micarta handles.

Give John Gonzalez a try at http://www.plan-a.org/mmhw/index.htm

He is MMHW exclusive dealer. His prices are great and so is his personality. You cant go wrong with this company. Good luck.

Just visited their site and there are some awesome knives and short swords there. Anybody have one of the Cane Cutter's? This looks like it would make an excellent chopper. Nothing wrong with the prices either.

I'm sorry to say that Mineral Mountain is not going to be at the Blade show. Ted has really not been doing too many shows as of late, and I'm too "wet behind the ears" to do it myself. I'm hoping to start doing shows soon, but I'm really beginning to regret not being able to make it to this year's event. If I was able to make a last minute showing, would someone promise to buy a bunch of knives or swords from me?

Dude, if you show up with a bunch of models in the back of a van that I can handle... I promise I will make a purchase... at least one if not more.... and that excludes the Speed Stick Senior I have on order from you!!! If you are wet behind the ears, what better way to get your feet wet than by diving head first into Blade Show?!?!?
I personally believe that your presence would boost sales tremendously. I saw the name MMHW a few times in passing advertising but never had an inkling of the quality or selection until running across your page and then purchasing from you. MMHW, in my opinion, is terribly underrated (could be due to lack of exposure) as far as bang for the buck. I've had my eyes on one of those large bowies....

Cam, I would love to make it there. I just can't see any way to make it happen at this point. I want to go just to stumble around drooling on all the knives, never mind the exposure I could create for MMHW.

Thanks for all the nice words and encouragement. I'm definitely going to try to start making it to the big shows, but it'll take a good amount of planning to make it happen. It would be a big strain on Ted to create a table-top surplus, since he's been fairly back-logged with orders. It'll happen eventually though...

Later!
