Mineral oil for blade protecting

Are there any problems with coating INFI and SR101 blades with mineral oil to protect against corrosion?

It's all I ever use and have had great results with it on my carbon steel blades. A lot of mine are fully stripped as well. The blades still have a lot of patina from use, but no rust issues.

I leave my infi blades bare with no issue. The only corrosion I've seen on them is from leftover Decarb. I use mineral oil on most of my carbon steel knives so they're still food safe. It's also cheap and a bottle last a while.

No issues whatsoever.
I use Singer Sewing Machine Oil (very high grade mineral oil at a good price!). Protects beautifully from rust and won’t, itself, cause a patina (but protects and preserves a pretty forced patina perfectly).

That's all I use for any of my nekkid Busse (and 'kin), be it INFI or SR-101. Works fine for me, but I live in a dry climate too.

Mineral oil works great and it tastes better than renwax or wd40 if you have to cut food.

i have a stupid question, will mineral oil / balistol leave stain/discoloration on infi? I have a safe queen tank buster LE that I keep in drawer for a long time, I oiled the blade before storing it (forgot which oil I used, singer oil or balistol).
Last time I check it, it has a yellowish discoloration. I havent tried to wash it though.

Some oils can turn with age... Like I know olive oil gets thick and sticky and gets more yellow. I've been using BoosBlock Mystery Oil, which is just food grade mineral oil with some beeswax. It's used for treating wood cutting boards, so I know it's safe... But I don't know if it'll react with the knife tho.

Mineral oil shouldn't do that. I'm not sure about balistol because I've never used it. Infi is pretty stain resistant as it is. I just don't think USP grade mineral oil would discolor it.

I also have never had any issue with mineral oil either staining something or the oil itself turning a different color with age. Combine that with the fact that you can consume mineral oil (i.e. use your knife coated with mineral oil to cut food) and you have a winner in my eyes. OTOH, olive oil and a number of other consumable oils will go rancid over time and may turn yellow as part of that process. Pharmaceutical/food grade mineral oil does not so far as I know. I have had--and still use--the same bottle of mineral oil I picked up probably 12 years ago.

I always heard the clove oil was so their wives wouldn't use it for cooking oil.
You mean you guys don’t use swords for food prep. Ak47 works great to butter toast. And it is awesome for cutting a grilled cheese sandwich in half.
