FYI....u-tube has a vid review of of the new Mini Recon 1 Clip Point. It may be the very first vid of the new 2021 model. Just type “mini recon 1 cold steel” in the search box.
 
I was hoping you’d have a review, ha. I like mine so far, and think they’re an outstanding value. Been carrying mine when I wear basketball shorts and a full size recon 1 is too heavy.

They’re not quite as high quality as the XHP versions were, more like a cross between a voyager and the older mini recon 1s due to the steel and lined grn handles. For the $52 I paid for mine, they’re a great value. I have the clip and spear points so far, just waiting for the tanto to release.

Edit: I also like that they’re uncoated.

Yeah I made the same mistake on the AD15 Lite, which was the same seller. Percentage-wise I went lower on the Mini Recon, but apparently still not low enough. Live and learn...

Thanks for the tip :-) i never tried this before, learned new things today. I tried $50, rejected, then $51 and was accepted.
Bought a spear point and a clip point :thumbsup:
 
Just a heads up: the mini recon 1 tantos are out now at various distributors. I just ordered one for $50.29 at an e-auction site.
 
Awesome! Much easier to remove! I was kinda wondering the way it came off in strips and the blade is in such good shape.
 
I contacted Cold Steel (GSM) requesting left handed pocket clips for the mini recon 1s I’ve bought. Because they are shaped differently, the right one does not fit on the left side. This was their response:

Wowo_O. Mine didn't come with the lefty clip either and I was wondering if it was just an oversight. Why the hell would they invoke Lynn's name when he's not even involved anymore? Really lame.🤬
 
I asked for a lefty clip for my mini recon beginning of this month and this is the reply I received:

Unfortunately, we do not have any spare pocket clips. GSM Outdoors recently acquired Cold Steel and we are still in the process of moving everything from California to Texas. We are also still trying to everything back in stock. We might have them available on a later date but right now we do not have extras. If you have any questions, you can email us back or you can call us 1-877-269-8490 Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM CST.

Just to clarify, your mini Recon didn’t come with a left pocket clip? All the CS folders I got before came with a lefty clip in the box.

Damn, that sucks. Why even drill holes for lefty carry if there’s no corresponding clip?
 
I just received a Mini Recon 1 the other day and there was no lefty clip with it. I don’t need one, but for some reason I was expecting both clips. Maybe a reviewer had received both, or maybe I was thinking of the Demko AD20.5.

Anyway, seems that was a pretty lame reply to jux t from the new nabobs at Cold Steel. Then Blue Sky asks for a lefty clip and is told there are no extra clips? But… they aren’t supplying lefty clips in the first place. Extra? Am I missing something here?

They need to up their customer service game.

Really nice little knife though.
 
Does anyone really think they checked with LT about a pocket clip? Seriously? The response I received at least had the possibility of some credibility.

If you go to the trouble of molding handles and tapping threads for a left side clip, because you went and designed the clips to be asymmetric in the first place, then you better darn sure provide one.

I realize it’s only a clip, and the knife itself is really good, but if this reflects the mindset of the new owners then that doesn’t bode well for the future of CS. What did they save, like 10 cents by leaving it out?

Sorry, but this really irks me for some reason.
