Mini-reviews/opinions requested for Queen Cutlery pocket knives...

Greetings fellow knifegoers. I got the urge to pick up a few gentlemenly knives as I've got plenty of non-gentlemenly knives already.

I've got two little pearl-scaled, ATS-34-bladed Queen Cutlery traditional-style pocket knives on the way to me. My questions are as follows:

1. How's the quality (fit and finish) of these pieces in general?

2. How does the ATS-34 perform in such a small, thin blade?

3. If the quality is good, and the blade steel performs well, why would I even consider buying a pearl-scaled Case in the same patterns for twice to three times as much when ATS-34 is not even an option? Is this a collector issue, or is the fit and finish of Case that superior? Please don't get me wrong, I like Case knives a bunch, I just feel as though I'm missing something here.

Thank you in advance for your responses!

I don't think you will be disapointed in Queen "fit & finish". Personaly, I believe Queen quality is far better than the average Case.

Hey Professor,
I've posted a couple times on this topic. Do a search on my name and also on Mooremaker. There's some good info there.
The Queen folders used to come with the main blade only in ATS-34. Now, however, all blades are 420 SS I believe. A big step down if you actually want to use the blades to cut stuff. I sent a Red Winterbottom Trapper back when I learned it was SS and not ATS-34. However, the knife as a whole was virtually perfect. Case fit and finish isn't even in the same ball park.
I believe that the Queen factory still might have some older ATS-34 bladed knives lying around. Check out their site and give them a call. http://www.queencutlerycollectors.com/Queen_Cutlery_Collectors.htm
Good luck,

Thanks guys! I've been told that these I ordered were from the ATS34 lot (probably just the main blades like you say), so that's why I picked up several. Do the blades generally say what type of steel; I'm thinking they don't for you to not have known off the bat that it was not ATS34?

Professor,
The main blade is stamped/etched ATS-34.

Thanks again, Lenny. I'm looking forward to the little knives' arrival more and more now.
