I have a 3 1/2 foot bar of 52100 and would like to know what I can forge it with to get a nice piece of damascus? Thanks for your help.

Red st.Cyr uses 5160 and 52100. The blades are nice to look at. I don't know how they cut.

52100 and 5160 have been some of the nicest blades I have seen and they cut like crazy.
52100 has about twice the chromium that 5160 has so you get a very nice contrast, and both steels have enough carbon to harden on there own. A 50/50 mix will give you about a .80 carbon content.
I have used Al Pendrays HT method for 52100 for this mix and it works very well. RC of 60 is possible after temper. You can also edge quench or draw the back down.
As soon as my press gets finished I have about 50 lbs. of each to turn into damascus. The old right arm is wearing out and the press is just to easy.
