Special thanks to Joe Flowers for sharing this link with me. This episode has been a bit elusive, but here it is finally!

Oh yeah great episode. I love to get this out time to time and watch it, especially when I think about not going outside for whatever reason. Some real men back in those days.

And Larry with his collection........I get speechless when I see it.

One day maybe, one day.

That was a interesting video, thanks for posting it. Larry's collection is crazy, that has to be what I call to many! I can't believe how many look to be in decent shape, compared with how many he has.

Thanks for posting this. I watched this sometime ago and keep looking for them to play it again. Good stuff

thanks for the heads up. i dont have a tv so i never knew it was out there...
i'll watch it soon...

Great video thanks Wildman. I was surprised to see so many axes just leaning against the wall, I guess I'm not the only one to procrastinate making a proper axe rack.

I'm with you Trailmaker. Heard leaning them against the wall can warp the handles over time but I just haven't gotten around to building a rack.

Lol, yeah I think that's common among axe addicts. Accumulating heads faster than you can get them hafted seems to be another common problem.

Great link. There's also a link to the "world's sharpest" episode at the end of the video. It's another good one.

If there's any doubt that the axe is one of the most useful and important tools in human history, this video does well to dispell them. Some great axecraft-juggling is an interesting technique.

PS, it's sad that Council Tool had such a pivotal role in the industry, but has since been reduced to imported dimestore-grade product.

Very interesting video.Thanks for sharing.

From Council Tools website FAQ:
Where are your tools made?
Council Tool buys its raw materials - namely steel, wood, and fiberglass - from domestic sources. We forge, finish, and assemble our tools here in North Carolina. When you buy from Council, you're buying a true Made-In-America product!

Cool video.

I like the part where the narrator says that a throwing axe has two bits in order to double the chances of sticking it. OH, really is THAT why??? Maybe they should have let the lumberjacks explain that one!

That hewing axe with the offset head (rather than offset handle) is all the bizness!! Officially on the lookout for one now!

I'd say that's pretty inaccurate. Are you intending to say Collins?????

I'd honestly forgotten how much I liked that show. This Episode is good stuff. A pretty good workup on one of my favorite tools. Thanks for putting it here for us to enjoy.

Thanks for posting! That was very informative and interesting. My girlfriend laughed at me when she saw what I was watching (happened to be at the tomahawk segment) then sat down and watched the remainder with me.

Very neat stuff, and crazy to think that a tool as simple as the lever and wedge are still counted upon today over more contemporary options!
