Hello
I am looking for recommendations for a modern slipjoint

I have a CRK Impinda and a lionsteel Bestman BM1 (and many SAKs ;) )

As much as I like the Impinda I am not impressed by the fit and finish of the Bestman

My criteria:
- Not made I China
- Titanium and Carbon fiber handle
- No pocket clip
- Preferably Clip point or spearpoint blade
- Budget under $300

I believe Spyderco has a few slipjoints.
Hinderer has one.
Tactile Bexar
Viper might have one (they did a nice job on the forum knife a few years ago)

What are you looking for that you aren't getting with the Impinda? That's probably the nicest modern production slipjoint, and their patented system that makes it easy to open but tough to close is really nice.

The Hinderer XM slippy looks nice and has that adjustable thumb disc. Jens Anso does a lot of modern slipjoints, but he favors sheepsfoot blades. His Zero Tolerance 0235 is a spearpoint, though, and has a really cool minimalistic design in carbon fiber. Boker should have a few that are made in Solingen, as well.

This is one area where most of the options probably will be made in China. I'm guessing that most of the people who refuse to buy Chinese knives are Americans. The thing is, Americans also typically aren't as big on non-traditional slipjoints since we're allowed to carry locking knives. So aside from a few examples here and there, knife companies probably aren't in a hurry to fill a demand they're not sure exists.

I have gifted a couple of engraved BM Propers that had excellent fit & finish and came razor sharp. Both from a vendor here, DLT.

If you are looking for EDC, then 3-5/8" closed is the limit, I think. Best is 3-3/8" to 3-1/2". I like to have a modern one of these if they exist.

-Benchmade proper (picked one up for about $150 through a legit dealership, not a bad deal for carbon fiber and s90v)

-lionsteel best man (picked one up also for about $150ish for a beautiful looking wood handle knife with m390)

I was able to handle a BM proper and it almost made me give up my frame lock, almost.
The ones I've given as gifts I got to fondle a bit (purely for inspection of engraving of course 😂) and they are superb, just not my style.

I really like my Spyderco Lil Native Slipit. Great ergos and I really like the way it snaps open. That blade is not closing on you unless you deliberately want it to. And of course it has the usual Spyderco build quality and materials
