For the pas year, I've been carrying more traditional slipjoints (SAK, Barlow, Congress, TL-29 and Stockman patterns. But I am swinging back to enjoying modern (not quite traditional) slip joints. I've been carrying my LionSteel 2 bladed Jack and it is such a joy. The M390 is care free and holds an edge.

I have a Benchmade Propper, a Lionsteel Jack and the MKM Campo8. I don't really consider the GEC knives or most Case knives modern, but current traditionals.

What are the other Modern (modern steel and scales) that still have a pocket feel to them. What am I missing and why don't we see more of them.

Fox Livri is one. Wood or Micarta. M390. Even has a half-stop.

Only other ones I'm personally familiar with are the CK01 lionSTEEL Roundhead, Shuffler, and Beerlow.

I certainly agree about the Fox Livri, a super compact knife with great character and steel.

But let's not forget what knifeswapper knifeswapper Mike Latham did for the Forum during the troubled times of 2020 by organising a Forum Knife that is a really great example of Moditional - Viper, from Lionsteel.

OldHercDude OldHercDude The Fox Livri both look beautiful. Just what I was looking for.

The Buck Saunter also falls into that distinctive categry

redsparrow redsparrow I love MOKI knives (I have a Kronos) but lf you start going there, there are a lot of classy Gentleman's knives. Moki and old Al Mar knives are especially classy, but there are a lot of others.

I actually think Boker makes a few (bot the Solingen single blade kinves, which might fall into the traditional category, but also the Boker TecTool has some nice slipjoints.

I don't consider the double detent flippers to fall into the slipjoint category, but the ZT0230 looks nice.

It appears Civivi makes some slipjoints that might fit into the category
I really was expecting more options.

The Livri is small and light.

Old Al Mar knives are one thing I wish I had spent some money on back in the day. I lost interest in the knives after Al's passing. I have one of the old '80s SERE folders, the middle model with micarta (3002-A IIRC). Needs a spa treatment better than I can do, but not sure who to trust it to. Maybe one of these days.

As for Boker, some of their more traditional models have been reworked with a little modern, such as the Boxer. A traditional lockback, but with a new design and updated steel. Also now available as slipjoint, and Damascus steel as well. But it is a bit larger and heavier knife. Personally, I like the design.

Boker is also releasing some of their traditional knives with interesting material combos like raw brass or copper and canvas micarta. They also look good and feel nice in the hand, IMHO.

If a bit of variation from slipjoint into lockback is acceptable then here's an excellent "Modern (modern steel and scales)".
Moki's small Fishowl - modern construction, extreme lightweight lockback in Micarta.

G gentleman_edc - if lockbacks are too much of a variation I will delete this post
Did you re-dye those scales? I didn't know they were released in green.

I can't give enough praise to Lionsteel and Viper.

I love the CK's Lionsteel Otnat, and as of last week the Viper Hug. Seriously well made, M390.

I’ve always considered them just slip joint knives. Not even close to a traditional slip joint knife. Seems like everyone that makes knives are coming out with a slip joint, which doesn’t qualify it as a traditional.
Here’s a few I’ve got.

The Fishowl is jet-black, any color seen on it must be reflected.
Once when traveling I used a computer at the local library to take a peak at some of my post. Every pic looked considerably different than on my home computer. Makes me wonder how others see my pics. 🙂
