Modern Japanese Tanto in my own style.

5160 steel. Antiqued and textured brass fittings and pin. Ironwood used for the handle and scabbard. Full flat grind with a false edge on the top of the blade.

Was a long and arduous journey, but I learnt a lot and enjoyed the process! Will tackle an authentic Japanese Tanto in future once I can upgrade from my 1x30 sander and coal forge, to a 2x72 and propane forge.

Thanks for taking a look!

Thank you, appreciate the feedback! I will keep putting more of my projects on here as I finish them ๐Ÿ™‚.

The length is 255mm.

This one already went to a client. I do have plans to make a similar one, but with 1070 carbon steel, and a nice hamon, more akin to the more traditional Japanese Tanto.

Aesthetically solid in your own style with convincing edge and the superb "interpretation" of a habaki.
Thats simply very cool!
Thank you for the kind words! I had to get creative with the"habiki" seeing that I don't have the expertise and tools to make a traditional habiki yet...

I went through some of your work and was very impressed by what I saw.

I look forward to seeing more of your work in future!
