My Mokume Gane EDC collection. Many of you already know this, but for those who don't, Mokume Gane is the Japanese metal-working technique, similar to Damascus, where copper or gold is melded in layers with silver or steel to produce a wood-like grain.

On the left is a William Henry Mokume money clip with a fossilized Wooly Mammoth tooth insert; then an Anne Wolf Mokume wristband; under which is a Mokume pendant (from Thailand). The knife on the right is a William Henry (that my wife gave me as a birthday present some 10 years ago) with Devon Thomas Damascus blade, Mokume bolsters (in a burl pattern), and CF scales; the bottom knife is a Benchmade Gold Class "Proper" slip joint with Damasteel blade, Mokume bolsters, and burgundy/black linen micarta scales.

Here is my Instagram if you want to check out more of my modest knives and things. https://www.instagram.com/locutus49/?hl=en.

Dang it! My palms are sweating, and that can only mean one thing...
I was actually discussing a knife design with a manufacturer, and Mokune came up as an option...

I think Mokume works best with brown or black-toned scales, but I have seen it on all kinds of patterns and colors. I like it because it looks good even when it gets old and rubbed a lot. And it isn't too common. You won't see it on cheap knives, although if they discover it in Pakistan...watch out.

All I know is that it's $200 more than mokune... 🤣
I guess it's less prone to scratching, and a bit more flexible...
By the way: I took the "Cheepessobee" route, and ordered my knife with gold anodized titanium, and a jeweled finish.
It kept the knife within budget!
