Mokume gane strength?

I have done some searching on this but I cannot find out how strong mokume gane is. I know it is made up of softer metals (brass, copper, nickle silver) but I am wondering how it would work for making EDC type items. The item I am currently thinking about would be a small pocket comb. So 5"-6" long, maybe 1/8th inch thickness. My main concern is whether the metal is too weak when it comes to the tines of the come. I am sure a solid slab would be fine but a 1.5" tine that is about 1/16th" thick seems like it might be prone to bending. Anyone with any experience?

Thank you in advance

I think it would be prone to bending too.

Make one out of brass as a test.

Titanium mokume might be OK, but you will pay and pay for that.
Make one out of plain titanium as a test.

Stainless steel damascus - Damasteel might be a good choice

I just want to see a work in progress thread when you start this project.

Mokume is basically the same as brass brass. while it would work harden a tad, it would not hold up as a comb.

It would work as brooches, pins, necklaces, key fobs, etc. It is used for bowls and other decorative objects.

That is my fear. Plus I am worried what hair oils and hair products will do to the brass and copper.
At the cost of mokume gane I don't think I am going to actually try this one. I did order some 304/316 damascus yesterday though so I do plan on making a comb out of damascus and will see how that goes.

Not my point, but I expected that reply when I made the post.

I won't go on with it, so lets all wait and see what he comes up with.

Moorning, Whats up bro.... you got the mokume?
