I just received my Mora's from Ragweed Forge. Man O man does he ship FAST!
I ordered them on Wednesday morning and I got them on Saturday with Friday being a holiday!

I'm going to sharpen them on my SharpMaker, but was wondering how on earth do you attach the 711 to a belt? Almost looks like something is missing. Do you have to buy a ratcheting clip to attach onto the sheath?

My first impressions of these knives is....how on earth do they sell them so cheap?! The handles fit my hand great and they even look pretty cool. A great knife to take into the field and use and not be afraid to use it too hard either.
I saw that video of the torture test on the Clipper and that convinced me to finally buy one....ok...2, but don't tell my wife :-)

Really. The photo on Ragnar's shows the same plastic belt loop that came with the sheath on my 510. It works fine for most belts but could not be used with one that is especially wide and/or thick.

You thread your belt through it?!.....I thought that maybe there was some sort of additional attachment that snapped into that key hole shape. Something that would allow it to swivel?

Ragnar is the fastest in the world. It is like he knows you want the knife before you order it. That is the only way it makes sense for him to get it us so fast.
That 711 will cut forever. Try not to baton with it.

That key-hole shape is made for a button. This is the way many working folks from Sweden like to carry them, from what I understand.

I personally would not use a sharpmaker to sharpen them up.. The scadi grind is a great cutting edge and super easy to maintain and resharpen...by using a sharpmaker you'll give it a secondary bevel which will make the edge more resistant but compromise the slicing ability and the simplicity of the scand i grind...just press the entire bevel flat to a stone and give a few swipes on either side touch up witha strop and you should be splitting hairs in no time, but that's just me y.o.m.v,

O darn it.....I didn't use my SharpMaker, but I did free hand it on a DMT fine diamond stone.
Gee....it only took 5 swipes per side to get it shaving sharp. I got a micro bevel on it now, but when it dulls, I'll keep in mind of placing the entire bevel on the stone.
Thanks for the input!

Carry on a button eh....That kind of sounds like the Europeans :-) no offense guys....just a little fun stabbing :-)

That was my guess anyway. A button? Have to be a very well attached button I'd say.

Mark, you can use the Sharpmaker, but I do it by placing the rod in the end hole, where it sticks out almost horizontal. Then I clamp down the Sharpmaker on the bench so I can use two hands to sharpen with.

Howeva.......I've been using my King waterstones lately to grind the Scandi edge, then finishing off with the wee-est of micro-bevels on the Sharpmakers fine white stones in the 30 degree holes (ALL of my Moras (and Helle) have an "almost" exact 15 degree scandi edge. By holding the blade vertical and taking 2 or 3 very light passes on the white stones, you'll end up with the finest of micro-bevels and one sharp 711 !

I'm not sure but I think Ragnar must bend space and time to get us his moras so fast,
I am tempted to make an order on a Helle scandi right now just for that reason. I love getting stuff fast, I usually wait 2-3 weeks, if I'm lucky.

Yes, you can thread your belt through the sheath, but the key hole type thing is also there so you can put it on a hanger which is basically a belt loop with a jean type button on the bottom, so the sheath free hangs. This is how the Scandinavians like to were theres, and most higher end sheaths will come with a belt loop that is attached to a ring that is attached to the sheath, so that the sheath free hangs from the belt. I hope that makes sense.

The sheaths are crappy though, so you could just make your own or buy one aftermarket. Leather isn't very expensive, make your own. I made one without any tools other than a utility knife:
