For fathers day, my son picked me out a few things and he just happened to pick up a "lesser" knife to throw in since he knows I like knives. A stainless Mora Companion. I really love this thing! I really like the sheath, it sure does make it versatile. I get to carrying a fixed blade from time to time and it's usually the sheath that is the downfall. I like to wade and fish in the summer, and I'm wearing swim trunks, so there goes a belt sheath knife. During deer season, when it gets cold, I'm wearing overalls or coveralls and no belt. The sheath clips on to swim trunks, has a nice drain hole in the bottom and it looks like I can clip it to my overalls and coverall front pocket, or even pocket carry it clipped to the inside of coverall pockets. 100 degree heat and I'm in the garden in shorts without a belt, it works. I'm 55 and grew up in the age of $27 and under Buck 110s from Wally World and $55 Benchmade Griptillians when it comes to modern knives. It's hard for me to be willing to pay double those prices now on knives and I still like a high quality bargain.
I'm currently carrying a Case Trapper as my main edc, but the Companion is just so easy to clip on around the house/property. I'll probably be looking at the little stubby Mora pocket fixed blade. I could see myself carrying one of those in my pocket for the times I couldn't carry the Companion.

Betcha can’t stop at just one.😎

I got two of the mora basics from Atlantic and they are awesome. Can't beat it.

Never saw them at wally world I'll have to look.

I personally like the 511 basic, namely with the bright orange handle.

My only problem is the sheath being right handed, but otherwise the sheath works great.
With the scandi grind it's not something I'd EDC but they make an excellent utility blade.

J jec88 , having read so many good reports about Mora knives, I had to see for myself.
The Clipper was my first choice because it has the thinnest carbon steel blade of the 4-inch models. The ultra comfortable rubber handled Clipper was excellent at everything, from cooking to camping. It's useful blade and sheath left me wanting to try a stainless Mora, and I located one for less than $12.
Now, after several years of using the 546 as my go to fixed blade, I highly recommend it as an all-purpose knife.
Your son gifted you a real winner.

Nobody has mentioned the BAHCO carpenter’s knife. From a distance, you can't tell it from an orange companion. It is made by Morakniv, and was cheaper than the 511 last time I looked.
The 510 Allround used to be cheaper than the 511. The hard red plastic handle said budget basement more clearly than any other Mora. They discontinued it for a while, but brought it back in response to popular demand, now with a black handle. I guess I looked down my nose at the red ones, but now I wish I had one. The black 510 still looks cheaper than the 511, but now costs a couple of bucks more.

Love the Companion and frequently use it when working in the back yard. Wonderful hand-friendly handle.
I have an Eldris and I think it makes an excellent pocket fixed blade. I tried it and it worked well for me around the house and yard. Had to stop because pocket fixed blades are not legal in California
Both my Moras came with a small secondary bevel (sometimes called a microbevel) of about 20 DPS at the edge. I tried changing it to a straight scandi on the Eldris, but felt that the secondary worked better for me, so I changed it back.
