Mora has had the small Eldris out for some time now. What do you all think of this knife overall?

I really don’t like carrying knives around my neck so this likely would go into my front pocket.

I just got one about a week or so ago for general yard/garage type tasks. Haven’t used it yet, though I did get it hair popping sharp with minimal effort. I think it’s just kind of a neat, handy knife to have around and I expect to get some decent use out of it. And I second the pocket carry.

I think it takes up as much space as larger, more capable folders and can't fathom a reason to carry one.

I like Moras and own a dozen or so, but all in a larger size. The Eldris is more expensive than any that I own and less capable... I don't get it.

I own one. At first it was pretty neat, but a few things sprung up after carrying, playing with, and using it.

It’s bulky for pocket carry.

The knife is basically all belly, and very short. Sometimes stuff your cutting bangs into your index finger due to the short blade.

It’s more expensive than a Companion.

That said, it’s still a useful little blade and comes with Mora’s comfortable handle.

I've had mine for a few months now and find it to be a surprisingly capable small knife. I carry it to work frequently and it rides in the front pocket of 501 bluejeans very well (I work in NYC and as far as I am aware it doesn't even come close to bending the law). When I am working (often on top of a ladder) I slip it into my right back pocket for easier access. It is my goto knife when I know I will be working with network cables. It is also a great size for reaching into tight spaces like network racks to cut cable ties and the like.
So far the blade has held up admirably with thousands of jackets removed. I did manage to roll the blade in a couple of spots last week and I am not exactly sure what it came into contact with that caused it. I was stripping shielded cable and it could have been caused by the braided shielding or I may have banged it against a rack by accident. I gave it a few strokes on a fine DMT pocket hone and it was good to go.
As far as the size, well, that may one of those love it or hate it things. I would never choose it as a primary knife if I was backpacking or hunting. To me this is more of a fixed blade utility knife.

Looks like an oyster knife to me. Check out Dexter Russel’s assortment of Oyster knives. Cheaper and more options. They are part of their sanisafe line and are Dishwasher safe.

Bought one for myself, gave it to my father. It's a little bulky in pocket compared to a folder and with sheath a little long. I compare it to carrying the bulkiest, non folding box cutter (I like box cutters) but with a belly instead of a Wharncliffe and a shorter handle while still taking up the same space.

Yes, it can be handy, but for the size with sheath, I would carry a number of folders in it's place. If the blade was about 1" longer, the handle about 0.5" longer, and a more space efficient sheath I would probably use it in my rotation.

That being said, if the specs are satisfactory to you and your purposes, it's a comfortable and handy little knife. I would much prefer washing goo and more off of the Eldris than a folder with all the little nooks and crannies and multiple failure points.

It is interesting that this knife brings out so many varying reactions.
Yeah, this topic comes up annually.
I like mine.
As my wife says," Is that your Eldris in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?"
Had to say it... again.

I gave mine away after being fascinated with it at first. The Cold Steel Tuff Lite is a much better alternative to this stubby fixed blade. All in all the Tuff Lite is pretty fantastic come to think of it.

I really like the look and the idea. It makes me think of neolithic stone tools, knapped knives that were mostly base with short blades that may or may not have had leather palm coverings. We all know short blades work wonders (Case peanuts, SAK Classic SDs, and others) and this one certainly cuts (it's a Mora, after all). But my 2019 moratorium (no pun intended, but there it is) is still in effect, so I cannot give this guy a try. If I were still regularly backpacking, I think I would make this my fixed blade option for long trips, replacing the Mora 510. Assuming it did the job; but why wouldn't it?

I also love all the colors!

I hate the idea. People fetishize Ötzi's knife, but he was working with the materials he had. Stone is brittle and places limits on how long a blade can be. For all we know Ötzi's knife was worn out and close to being replaced.

That said I don't hate this knife. I got my daughter one. I think a short blade is a good idea when learning how to use a knife. Longer blades aren't as nimble and require more skill to use.

I have one and when I got it, I thought it was neat. However, I don't think I've ever carried it. I tried it on around my neck when I got it, and it was like having a chicken egg on a string around my neck, and so I put it in my knife drawer and forgot about it. LOL

I agree completely. I bought one right when they came out and realized it was a mistake as soon as I received it. It's gives you all the compromises of a tiny, easy to carry knife, without being tiny or easy to carry at all.

I love me some Moras, but the Eldris is a mistake.

I have one and just snagged one for my wife also. I think they are super handy and actually got mine just to keep in my backpack full time. I don't see this knife as being a EDC, but do find it useful for lots of tasks, travel and to just have around. Honestly this hunting season it will be around with me because I think it will be a surprising capable gutting/skinning knife.

If anyone wants to ditch there Eldris I have a new Rat1 in the trade section I would trade for your Eldris......:)

This. I got rid of the one I had. It needs to be more of a sheepsfoot/wharny profile or it needs another half inch of blade. That belly made a short blade even shorter.
