I'd like to start a discussion around what we all consider to be THE classic and essential models from each brand. Knives you think everyone should have, the quintessential models within their lineups.

For fun I will throw in my thoughts about some less mentioned brands

Ontario, most would think the rat folders, but I am going to say the Old Hickory butcher knives, people have been using those forever

Gerber (I know, I know) I am going to say the Gator. Been around a long time, and even though I have been eyeballing them I still don't own one....yet

Case, a tossup between the trapper and 18 stockman

CRKT, the M16

Schrade, the 34OT. Made overseas now, but in my mind this is THE Old Timer

I'm sure others will jump in with other brands and ideas shortly

For Les head’s it’s my opinion that the v1 vecp is an absolute must have. I feel like the v1 vecp should be held in the same esteem as a sebenza p is for crk fans. It’s the grand daddy that began his midtech/production line. Considering there’s maybe only a few hundred if even that many out there, I feel it should be one of the most important grails for a collection of LGs. Maybe one day it’ll be recognized as such but currently it’s highly underrated/undervalued.

I'll go with

Fällkniven A1 (even though I'd prefer it to be in a tough steel like 3V, not laminated VG10, I snapped the tip off mine rather easily)

Spyderco Paramilitary 2 (I don't have one anymore, I really hate how it looks and don't like the straight spine, but it's an ergonomic wonder and just straight up a fantastic knife)

Leatherman Wave (great set of tools, amazing quality)

Not exactly what the OP is asking for, but some of the classics as I’ve seen and used them through the years (as a decidedly limited selection, “low-end”, old school edc-er, not a collector).

Buck 110/301
Barlow (any generic American made)
Spyderco Delica
Victorinox Swisschamp
Schrade Old Timer 30T (vintage)

I was trying to be funny & posted 🍿 🫣 before but the post got ghosted.

Guess the admins or the OP or someone else who "reported" me, didn't get didn't get the joke. 🤷‍♂️
