Anyone familiar with a product called Hippo Hands or anything like that, or know where to buy it? I think it clips on the handlebars and is like a muff that covers your gloved hands and keeps out the wind and cold. My hands are the only part of me that get really cold when I ride in the winter. Any other ideas?
Also, any ideas about where to get a watch that clips on to the handlebars? Would a cheap digital watch strapped on keep goin'?

Haven't seen Hippo hands for a while. JC Whitney has a large snowmobile catalog, try them. The best gloves I've found for winter riding was neoprene diving gloves. They really help hold in the heat. And a pair of cheap rain covers for the glove will help keep the wind out.

Haven't seen new hippo hands in a long time. Honestly, go to St. Vincent DePaul stores. That is where my Dad found all of ours for the trail bikes.

Good luck finding them. They make it very nice in the cold.:D

Only things I've seen that come close to what you are talking about are made for ATVs. I'm not sure if they will suit your needs or not, but you can buy them here.. They are called ATV Logic Hand Protectors by Kwik Tek. The only ones I've seen are camoflauge for hunting. You can do a search on Google and find different places that sell these for a better price. I just linked to a site that had a better pic and description.

HTH,

Edited to add: Ok, I just went back and checked the description of these, and they will fit most motorcycles, and are also available in black. Should have looked before posting. Duh.

I used snowmobile mittens many times, they work quite well. I got mine from Herter's, they had a layer of dense foam inside, with fuzzy acrylic pile over that- came up almost to the elbow.

Just to provide some feedback and followup: I went to the website that medic1210 pointed out and ordered a pair of muffs made for ATVs and motorcycles. It's an interesting idea and does keep you warm, but there were some problems. First, my mirror stops the muffs from sliding over the handlebars far enough so that I can reach my controls, such as lights, horn, and engine off switch. Also, it's pretty tight in there and a little hard to move comfortably. In addition, if you need to take your hands out for any reason, it's really hard getting them back in while you're moving. So, even though some of the problems can be solved by a little hole here and a little cut there, I'm returning them. They create more safety hazards than the extra warmth is worth. I have heavy down filled ski mitts that I was hesitant to wear because I lose a bit of control. With these you give up much more control, so I think that on a really cold night, I'll stick with the ski mitts. Thanks for the help! :)
