Movie help: Kung Fu Hustle?

I got this on Netflix, solely based on the fact that I read Bill Murray loves this flick. And if he jumped off a bridge, I'd go too.

But the subtitles are weird! Only about 10% of the dialogue actually appears as a subtitle, the rest are just void. Is this intended? Is this like a joke on the audience?

Trying to figure out if there's something wrong with the disc or with my settings is making it hard to enjoy the (so far very cool) movie.

Anyone have an answer on this one? Anyone see it in the theaters?
 
i've seen it several times on cable, and don't recall the majority of dialogue (in subtitle) being missing.
 
Nope, should be subtitles through the whole thing. There is also a dubbed version, but I prefer subtitles for foreign movies. Kung Fu hustle is great, I bought a pirated copy from a Chinatown night market lol.
 
Are you watching it on your TV/DVD player? Try playing it on your computer and see if it works differently on that.
 
Thanks a bunch for the responses guys! Just tried it on my computer and it worked. No clue why that would matter!

Very cool movie, incidentally.
 
A must watch! A LOL factor of 15 on a 10 scale!

I think you are thinking of Kung Pow! Enter the Fist

Only because you said "oooooone" I never remember it being drawn out in Kung Fu Hustle. :o Although both movies had a "Chosen One"



I believe Kung Fu Hustle 2 is set for release in 2012.

If you liked Kung Fu Hustle, you may also want to check out Shaolin Soccer. It preceded KFH, but is also funny and is also starring/directed by Stephen Chow.
