Quite a variety of knives used in this movie. Thought I recognized a Spyderco but couldn't tell what model.

The most amazing knife was the POS OTF he pulls. It's one of those cheesy ones you can get all day long for about $10. I lean over and tell my GF about the POS and as I'm saying what a POS it is he fires the button and what do you know, the blade shoots completely out of the knife and strikes the guy dead. Gee, none of the ones I've had ever did that but then again, I guess it's only a matter of time before the pins shear.

Also, John V pulls out an old Italian swingblade and all I can think of is "Geez, with the money this guy has you'd think he could get a good MT".

Anyone catch what other knives were used?

The Spyderco was a Civilian I think (looked too big to be the Matriarch). There was an Emerson Kerambit (although I missed sighting it), and a CCC (charming chinese cheapie...or cheap chinese crap) balisong that sounded like a mouse rodeo every time it was swung around.

Unfortunate for us, most of the time knives in movies aren't chosen for their quality, they're just chosen because they look cool or badass. The italian switchblade is highly recognizable as a criminal's weapon (also unfortunate), and a Microtech or Dalton or other quality auto just wouldn't have had the same effect.

I admit the ballistic knife supprised me too. I remember thinking 'no way is that a ballisti---whoah". A bit hard to believe though.

toward the end, he used what looked like a Strider fixed blade to take out one of the bad guys. Not sure if it was a real Strider, but it had a cord-wrapped handle and certainly looked like the real thing.

I do recall seeing a Benchmade Rescue Hook on the table.

It seems in one scene I saw a sort of persian style blade flash across the screen. I doubt it was a Dalton Rung Sat, but ......... Thought I spotted that Strider too.

Did you guys like the movie?

:barf: ... don't think I will see it twice, unless I decide to slo mo the knives :D

Yeah, the advertising at TAD gear anyway claims that it was a real strider. I think a model JW. I also thought it looked like an Emerson Kerambit and not a Kershaw, but could be wrong. Agree on the Civilian.
Lagarto

I slowed it down, it is an Emerson kerambit, no doubt.

*edit* No idea on the strider, the TV I'm using right now is on it's last few days. Really dark and hard to see. I will know more when I see the film in the family room TV. And no I didn't buy it, renting. ;)

Strider JW
Strider KH or PH
Emerson karambit
GBGB (Cheap Bad Guy Bali)
Movieland ballistic dinkstag

The Striders and the Emerson were picked out specifically by one of the head shed guys in pre-production.

And yea, I not only liked this one, I liked the first one too.

Doesn't the Russian Speztnaz have a knife that is capable of shooting out its blade? I think that was what the Punisher used.

Amazing how we could all tell that the butterfly knife was a cheapo one. I immediatly took out my BM 42 and swung it around. You really can tell the difference from the sound.

I believe the bali sound to be added after the fact. Most sounds are, even for things that don't normally make sounds. Ever notice, every time a gun is whipped out, it makes a clakkity-metallic noise? It's a sound similar to my wooden and metal shoe trees.
