How is the quality, fit finish and steel on these knives?I know theyre cheap. Was planing to get few and do some regrinds.

This is a knife forum. Most folks aren't going to like that manufacturer. They tend to clone models from other makers and use poorer quality materials relative to what you could get from a better manufacturer. Even their name sounds like it was used to mislead and think you are buying a Microtech which is a very legit brand.

My friend has MTech 8075 and 8076 I think, and judging from the short time I had them in my hands they are solid knives if you don't mind stainless (440C not 100% sure) . Grind was even on both knives, good handle materials (g10, wood), surprisingly fit and finish is better than more expensive Ka-Bar or OKC knives.

So I'd say decent knives at that price point.

MTechs are typically $5-$10 flea market knives, or in other words, cheap knock-offs. You may luck out with one that isn't entirely terrible, but I would not recommend it. Some of the newer models seem to be a bit better than their previous stuff, but overall you're better off with a brand that has better reputation.

Trash knives

That's what we used to say about Japanese imports. Mtech is a brand sourcing knives from China; some of it is as good as the Chinese stuff sold by better known brands. some of it is junk. It is a mixed bag, and I don't hold it against them if there stuff sometimes looks like someone else's stuff; since both companies may be sourcing products from the same manufacturers.

For a cheap disposable defense knife that isn't going to see any other use, they're fine. I got some on the advice of another forum member and found their kydex sheaths are of near-custom quality. Most manufacturers' sheaths are lousy--and I mean manufacturers like Spyderco, Boker, and Ka-Bar, hence the market for custom replacement sheaths.

Have the hawkbill. Use it for work around the house and it is surprisingly pretty well built.

Opens smoothly

It had good reviews

Didnt know they pirated designs....I'll avoid them in the future.

used my ka-bar in iraq proved itself in service for more than 7 years of hard use and abuse,
pick up an mtech knife and i suggest you do the same look wich one has a better fit and finish

They're a mixed bag. If you're planning on actually using it, I'd go with something else. If all you're looking for is a practice knife for Re-grinds then I'd say go for it.

So? What fit and finish have to do with toughness or durability? I can only comment on what I've seen. Have no intention of buying MTechs and testing them for 7 years. The fact is, the two I've seen have better fit and finish than any Ka-Bar or OKC blade I recently bought.

My first fixed blade I ever bought was Ka-Bar 1208 in late 60s. It took 40 years of hard use (and occasional abuse) like a champ. Fit and finish was great too.
Now you never know what you get under that asphalt paving they put on blades. Hit and miss. Unless it's Ka-Bar made in Taiwan. Taiwan made Ka-bars have consistently better fit and finish than USA made.
Sad really...

ka-bar has a much better finish than those mtech blades.
razor sharp factory edge no sharp corners and almost perfect handle even useable wearing gloves.

mtech on the other hand usually has sharp corner around the edges ,
even saw models with pieces of steel not lining up with the wood.

if you have a problem with how a ka-bar product is delivered to you you can call the customer service or write an email.
Mtech on the other hand doesn't even has a website? ''Or it is hidden that well so that people can't return their products''
this is all based on what i have seen
and maybe because we live in different countries they ship different quality products ''what i doubt''

None of the Ka-Bars I own, with the exception of Mule, has better fit and finish than two MTechs I had opportunity to examine. That's all what I'm saying. I can't comment on knives I've never seen.

I got razor sharp edge on some and completely dull on others. Handle size, shape, is matter of design rather than fit and finish

I have Ka-bars with asymmetrical grinds, varying edge thickness, lose washers, lose guards, grind smoothness similar to wood rasp, etc. Of course, some say Ka-Bars are hand made and each knife is unique, and they're the best knives ever, yet 3-4 times cheaper knife with the same faults is simply crap.
How does that make any sense?

Oh, "it's within our tolerances"...

Took me whole 30 seconds to find website including the warranty info. Anyways, why would you care about warranty. It's crap and disposable product, isn't it?

Maybe we shouldn't compare $9.95 MTechs with $60 Ka-Bars.
How about $30-35 MTechs?
Or maybe even $50 MTech? Like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEhlXaHQviw

I owned the Mtech Extreme at one time. It is not absolute junk. It surprising enough came with nice fit and finish. I do not believe that I would stake my life on it since it was marked on the blade with two differing steels.

I have seen a ton of m-techs over the years. Fit and finish has always been good but sometimes I wonder if that is because they are good at what they do or if they are just using materials and processes that make it easier to acheive a quality look that isnt backed up by actual quality. But i cant really speak to that as I dont use them. For me something about every M-Tech I have seen has left me feeling it was an immature design. What I mean by that is that almost everything I have seen from them seems to be aimed at non knife people. People who arent into knives are impressed it seems with anything that looks like its straight out of star trek. While true knife enthusiasts most times associate the same look as being immature mall ninja nonsense. I unfortunately fit into the later crowd. I honestly dont care if they started using S35VN and Titanium I could never take any of the designs seriously enough to look past them. YMMV

Well Said! and very understandable.... I always had a bad feeling about the knife, and that's not to mention it was absolutely a bar bell to swing along with the totally impractical design, But it looked Cool :glee:

then where is their website?
because the only thing i can find is amazon products and our local rip off retailer who sells them.

and if i compare my ka-bar next to that mtech extreme
i'm going to laugh my ass off,

that must have been the most unpractical knife i have ever seen.
you don't buy a knife for cutting wood? you got axes for that.
that sheath won't stand 2 weeks in the sandbox
if one of my people would come to me with ''his private purchase''
i'll kick his ass over the camp,
when you're in a squad your squad members knife could save your life aswell.

ka-bar's were used in vietnam and still used today.
and maybe i'm just stuck with the idea Mtech is bad and all other knife brand that were not named spyderco , sog , zero tolerance benchmade or ka-bar suck.
but i can sure as hell say that a ka-bar is one of the most reliable knives you can get and many will say the same,
