Mug Boss: Storing small gear

When my gear is not in my pockets, I used to toss it into an old bag and put the bag in my desk drawer. This is not very tidy or accessible though, so I was looking for something better. A few months ago, someone on the forums mentioned that they use a mug for storage. I liked that idea, but it does not work very well for my smallest items. I recently found a handy way to solve this problem.

Some of you are probably familar with Bucket Boss, the canvas tool organizer that fits over a bucket. They also make a small version of their product called Mug Boss, which fits over a 12 ounce mug. I bought mine, along with some other things, from here:

What I like about this arrangement is that large folders and lights can go in the mug itself, but the outside part has pockets of varying sizes that are a perfect fit for smaller items. For reference, the pockets on mine currently has a Spyderco Jester, CMG Infinity Ultra light, Space Pen, AAA Arc light, Victorinox Rambler, LM Micra, Spyderco LadyBug II, and SeberTool in the pockets. Inside the mug, I have larger items, specifically 5 SAKs and 2 folders. I bought three Mug Bosses, so now I need to find more mugs to hold the rest of my stuff.

This arrangement keeps everything more accessible and better organized then before. The only problem is that now that I can see all of my stuff better, it takes me even longer to decide what to carry each day...;)

I always put all of my stuff in my baseball hat. If I get called out I just grab it an go.

That mug boss is cool

I have been using this Pouch. Holds EDC gear plus extras that I rotate in or out.

Those are some very cool options for organizing gear. I have a tupperware style plastic box in my dresser drawer that I unload my pockets into. The next morning, I know I'm finished dressing when that thing is empty. If I had to leave in a hurry, I could pop the lid on and have all my essentials with me. Not very elegant, but cheap and effective.
