Multi tool trivia questions ?

Wow, you guys are pretty good if you were able to identify the LEATHERMAN FLAIR as the correct answer by clue #5!!

So how about the same type of question, only a bit more difficult?
Remember, don't give away the answer, just let us know by which clue number you knew the correct name and manufacturer of this multitool:

1) I am a pliers-type multitool.

2) I was introduced just a few years ago, and am still featured on my manufacturer’s website.

3) All of my blades and implements are readily accessable while the handles are in the "closed" position.

4) All of my blades and implements lock open with a secure locking mechanism.

5) All previous multitools from my manufacturer had handles of stamped and formed stainless steel, but my handles are made from cast aluminum (with rubber inserts.)

6) In addition to more features mentioned below, I also have: needlenose pliers, a serrated knife blade, a bottle opener, three sizes of regular screwdrivers, a Phillips screwdriver, scissors, and a file.

7) One of my more innovative tools is a saw blade coupler, that comes with a replaceable jigsaw blade.

8) Another feature that I'm quite proud of is the replaceable tungsten carbide inserts for my hard wire cutters.

9) Contrary to what some people may think, my manufacturer does NOT produce baby food!

10) What is my name?

Good luck,
~Bob

Okay, maybe that one was a bit TOO difficult? Or maybe I was too vague with the clues? In any case, the answer I was looking for was the Gerber Multi-Plier 800 Legend.

http://www.gerberblades.com/products/view.php?model=8239

I will be out of town for much of the next two weeks. Doug, do you have another trivia question to post on this thread? If not, I would invite anyone else to post a question. (Only rules are, the answer must be a tool that came out AFTER the Leatherman PST, and it must include a knife blade)

90% sure by 7 absolutely sure by 8. I've never owned a gerber.

:confused:

O.K. some of you may remember this thread . sorry for the long absence on my part but my father died close to the last time that I posted on this thread and I was just not myself for awile . In any case for newcomers or oldies here ,here is a refresher on the goal/ambition/reason for this thread . By posing a question on features or design , you the readers/audience are going to guess/state which maker or multitool fits that description . By this process there will be a great many multitools brought to attention here other than strictly the name brands . You lurkers out there reading are welcome to join in .

The rules are ;

1. You are given 72 hours/3 days to answer ( except Bob , Bob is given a handicap of 24hours/1 day before he can reply to give the rest of you a better chance . I see you sulking Bob .)

2 . The tool that you name has to have a knife/cutting feature as one of its functions . This is the Blade forums afterall .

3 . To be given acknowledgement as the correct answer you have to give the manufacturers name and the name of the model of multitool .

4 . For this thread any tools asked about or answers given the tool has to have been made post Leatherman .

Is that straight forward enough ?

Here goes the question ;

There are quite a number of multitools made with hunting , archery or gun maintenence in mind . In some of these instances the manufacturer may have teamed with another manufacturer so as to put together a kit . A multitool packaged with a gun cleaning rod/brush . Some gun manufacturers have multitools with thier label on it . Multis with guthook function . So you are looking for multis designed for hunter/sportsman . I can think of 8 to 10 without any problem . Now surprise me with some that I have not found . Clock is ticking , which ones that I know of that you all have not found I will provide the rest of the answer on sunday or shorly there after .

Have fun

Kudos Lonediver, thanks for reviving this old thread.

Hmmm, interesting category to get things started on again. Some quick and easy answers, some a bit more obscure.

24 HOURS?! :mad: What the?......but......but......oh, alright.
If anybody needs me, I'll be over here in the corner, pouting.

8 to 10 answers! Hmmm, okay, here's two that come to mind. Both are from gun companies. The first one is the Beretta Shotgun Tool, which is a hammer tool with the usual knife and file blades, along with a variety of choke tube wrenchs and a pin punch.

Here is one of several links where I found the tool for sale:
http://www.discountcutlery.net/en-us/dept_22899.html
(also note the Beretta Pistol Tool available at this site.)

Another multitool with a gun company logo is this one by Browning. The tool itself was made by Kutmaster, and was sold by Browning as part of a gun cleaning/maintainence kit.

I checked around a bit, but it seems that this kit is no longer available from Browning.

Good going Bob ,

It must have been diffucult for you to keep a muzzle on for 24 hours .
I found one site that lists the Browning tool as available . It may be that they have not taken it down yet or they may still have it as old stock . At ;

http://www.honeyshouseofknives.com/products/BR-400.htm

There are many sources for the Beretta tools , another is ;

There are quite a number of tools that will fit this category . Tools designed for hunters , archery , and gun maintenence . There will be a number of name brands to fit in here . I trust that you will come up with more . How about the rest of you fellows are you going to make Bob come up with all the answers ? klatman maybe ? ;)

Beretta and Browning aren’t the only gun companies with multitools. Remington has a few, but Winchester has been the most prolific by far. They’ve gotten into bed with some Chinese manufacturer, and the result (as with many things associated with China) has been a population explosion. I know of at least eight Chinese-made Winchester multitools, and there are no doubt more.
As a rule, the construction of these tools is rather flimsy, but with a $5 to $15 price tag, what else would you expect?

..............but not all of the Winchester tools have features that are specific for hunters or sportsman. A mulititool that does is the Bird Hunters Multitool by Remington:
http://www.outdoorsuperstore.com/store/products/productDisplay.asp?productID=420129
It has shears, a gut hook, and 12 and 20 gauge choke tube wrenches. The tool itself is made for Remington by Bear Cutlery, who also have the same tool with their own name on it:
http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=BC157SM
(although the Bear Jaws version does not have choke tube wrenches)

Very good Bob , I am proud of you . You are doing your homework .

I agree with the post that you did before this about Winchester . It is a shame that such a fine American name has done this to themselves . I have found references to one tool that they are producing that seems to be selling in the $40.00 price range so I hope that it is a better product than some of thier others . But the sites that I have found it at so far have no picture .

The Winchester muzzleloading multi tool

http://www.goodlettsvillegunshop.com/Goodlettsville_Storefront/asp_StoreFront/FrameSet.asp

Maybe some of you can/will have better luck at turning up a picture of it .

There is stiil a bunch more in this category . One is a WELL known often speaken manufacturer in this forum . Another 12 hours to go fellows .

Good luck :)

Okay, I found a couple more tools in my collection that were designed with hunters/archers in mind. The first is BuckWing Archery & Turkey Hunter's Multi Tool. It has a pair of shears, a fold-out saw blade, and a variety of allen wrenches for repairing your bow.
http://www.mackspw.com/item.asp-im-BW69-d-BuckWing__Arhery_-_Turkey_Hunter__Multi_Tool
Another one is this tool from Game Tracker. Called the Archery Muzzleloader Multitool, it has nocking notches in it's plier jaws, as well as a gut hook, saw, etc.

Whew! How many more answers are there?

Excellent Bob ,

I still have 2 well known name brands on my list , 1 somewhat known and 2 obscure ones . 1 of those is a cheap chinese multi but I had seen it in a number of stores at one time . It was designed to be an archery multi , I found it at one site though it is not labeled there as a archery tool . The last one may not count .

You still have some more time , keep looking . Review the question . Are you :confused:

Okay professor, here is my last final flurry of answers before the deadline:

The only other gun manufacturer I know of with their name on a multitool is Smith & Wesson, who have three: the 44 Mag Tool, Tool Chest II, and the Baby Mag Tool. (Sorry, I couldn't find a link to the Baby Mag.)
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/right-tool/smitwesmul.html

A cheap Chinese multitool with an archery slant is this 20-in-1 tool. Note the one blade with a cutout for tightening broadheads onto an arrow.
http://www.cutlerytogo.com/asmul.html

Last but certainly not least are a couple of tools with gut hook blades. The gut hook comes as standard equipment on the Leatherman Charge XTi, and (according to klattman in an earlier post on this thread) is available as an add-on to the SOG PowerLock.

pant, gasp, wheeze, allright, how many did I miss?

Well the S&W's are not what I had in mind . I was looking for hunting , archery, and gun maintenence related functions rather than simply having thier name attached .

I forgot about the SOG add on , so bonus for you and Klattman . :eek:

The following post is the rest of my list . :)

All right here is the rest of them on my list ;

Gerber teamed up with Otis technology to produce some kits . These can be seen at :

http://www.thesealstore.com/item.cfm?ItemsID=416

Kutmaster produced a Minimaster Archery tool . This can be seen at ;

http://www.eders.com/Minimaster-Archery-Tool-p3456c796-path7,649,796.html

The Hoppes shooters knife which can be seen at:

http://www.gunaccessories.com/Hoppes/KnifeLightScrewdiver.asp

Can anyone come up with more for this category ? Multis for hunters , gun and archery tools .

Bob indicated an interest in posing the next question , so I will allow him to do so . Any of you that would like to host a question is welcome to do so . Just stay within the rules set out and we do this one question at a time .

The rules are ;

1. You are given 72 hours/3 days to answer .

2 . The tool that you name has to have a knife/cutting feature as one of its functions . This is the Blade forums afterall .

3 . To be given acknowledgement as the correct answer you have to give the manufacturers name and the name of the model of multitool .

4 . For this thread any tools asked about or answers given the tool has to have been made post Leatherman
