Pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssssssssssssseeeeeeeeeeee help :yawn:

I don't know any multitool brand making a multitool with a hammer... I have only seen the chinese ones you talk about.

None of the major manufacturer's (SAK, Leatherman, Victrinox, SAG or Gerber) make one that I know of. However here are 2 more options if you are interested:

http://www.extremely-sharp.com/es/catalog/pockettool.html

I have a colleague with the first one, which I have seen sold under several different brand names. It is not general purpose multitool, just a hammer and socket driver. It is not very small either and needs to be carried on a belt rather than in a pocket.

I have never seen the second model, but seeing as how it is made by some kind of custom sword/knife maker perhaps someone here has heard of the manufacturer?

I agree with Auntu Dan that no major multi tool manufacturer makes a hammer multi tool . One of the examples that he provided can be gotten a little cheaper at Smoky Mountain knife works at ;

Troika a German designer makes two different hammer multi tools . Thiers have folding handles similar to the Gall's rescue tool that I saw mentioned above .

Berrata the gun manufacturer has one , an example can be seen at ;

Ditch witch has one that can be seen at ;

Here are a few more sources that have hammer multi tools ;

If you plug the words " hammer multi tool " into a general web search you will find many more examples , They will be virtually all be of Chinese manufacture . They will be longer and heavier thah a plier based multi tool , for it function as a hammer they need to be . I have found three size ranges in hammer multi tools 5 1/2 inches plus , 8 inches plus and 11 to 12 inches . I have aquired over 50 variations of hammer multi tools so they do exist . I have a few antique ones that predate leatherman . Find one that suits your needs , good look in your search .

I would suggest carrying a regular multi-tool with a seperate small hammer. Hammering puts a lot of stress on everything, i'm sure after a while of use the locks, tools ect won't funtion like they should. Just a thought.

The best one will probably be the one with the heaviest head, longest handle and have lightweight tools/handle (frame).

Of course that will make for not that great non-hammer internal tools.

But to have a usable striking EDC/utility tool, you'll need the weight in the head and length in handle. Unless it's not a hammer like tool. :eek:

Most of the hammer multitools I know of look practical at first glance, but they are not. The handles are too short, which puts the hammer head too close to the user's hand. You might be able to pound a tack into a bulletin board with one of these tools, but not much else.

Much better are three of the tools mentioned by Lonediver above. These tools have fold-out extensions on the handles, which gives the hammer head some real momentum when you swing it.

The best hammer (in my opinion) is the Troika Obelix. Note that the folding handles in the photo pivot a full 180 degrees until they until they give the hammer head about a 9" long handle.

Another hammer tool from Troika is the Adlatus. It has a unique pair of tongs/cutters that close up to become a hammer. The tongs make the Adlatus a bit more versatile than the Obelix, but the head is lighter, making it less useful in the hammering role. The quality of both these German tools are absolutely top-notch.

Also mentioned above was the Galls Rescue Tool, which also makes use of the folding-handle-extensions technique. This hammer has some unique features for firemen and rescue personell. My only complaint is that the tool and sheath seem so big that I wouldn't be likely to carry it around with me.

Hope this helps!
