Jack White, he did an Austin City Limits a month or so ago and I really really like this guy!

Awesome, you like Jack White? I covered Freedom at 21 at a small shot back in November. His solo album is awesome.

I'm sure you've heard of the Black Keys by now after having swept up the Grammies, even if you don't watch the Grammies. Here's a set they did in Austin a long time ago when they were more bluesy, less polished, but still awesome:

To be straightforward here, I'm surprised how much heavy/death/whatever metal comes up when these music threads start up. Nothing against the genre(s?) at all, but around here in NYC, I don't know anyone past high school who really listens to that stuff regularly, so I've grown up thinking it was a rebellious youth-targeted genre.

Speaking of youth, I also like these guys. They were local here and remind me of my own youth:

Very cool! Thank you! I discovered Jack White for the first time on Austin City Limits. Loved his work right off, he can make that Fender sing. :)

I cemented my love for esoteric music back in college, I'll have to go through my albums and tapes and see what I can find on youtube that matches. I have quite a few.

Speaking of blues, I used to go to a Blues club in Lubbock in the 90's. The band ended up moving to Vegas. I will have to find their name soon, they were great, especially the Bus Boy! Big clue for those who were there. :) I'll figure it out.

Ah, you just discovered Jack White? Now I know you're not an aging first-generation hipster :p check out his earlier projects: the White Stripes, then the Raconteurs, then the Dead Weather. Very different stuff.

Hm, who else is on my playlist that's sort of esoteric... Chet Baker, Hanni El Khatib, that's it (I upgraded my phone's OS recently and that deleted all my stuff :()

Let me know who those blues guys are when you think of them!

Found him! And I'm sad to say he passed away in 1999. :( But I found the web site dedicated to him and his band. I feel fortunate to have seen him and his band many times in Lubbock, even through the smoke haze. :p

I've got to say, I've loved Thomas Dolby's work from the beginning, but his evolution is incredible, this is one of many that simply blows me away
