Here is some of the nicest musk ox horn I've been able to get. It had been off of the animal for a couple of years so it is well cured. It is still best to let it acclimate to your area for a little while, some makers will hold them a year. I am happy to answer any questions about the stuff or working with it. It is guaranteed to be legal and naturally colored. Happiness is guaranteed, if you find you can't use it when you get it in your hands, return it for your purchase price back, please do that within seven days. I take all the normal forms of payment, Paypal, checks, or credit cards over the phone. The prices shown will be plus shipping and insurance, I ship using USPS flat rate shipping where I can, I ship anywhere it is legal and charge only the actual shipping charges. You may PM me, email me or call me on the phone (though sometimes I have loud machines running and can't hear it).

Spend $1,000.00 and receive an automatic 15% discount.

How hard is the stuff? What would be another common material you would compare the hardness to? Would this be appropriate for hard use knives, say bowie handles?

Working it is just like working sheep horn, it is horn material (Keratin). It is as durable as sheep horn.

Like sheep horn, if it is heated up too much while working it or after the knife is finished, say on the dash board in a hot pick-up cab, it will warp. If it gets wet (like soaking it in the sink or putting it in the dish washer) it will swell and pop rivets.

Some construction methods work better on it than others. Pin-less designs like hidden tangs and take downs work better than scales and pins for wet duty. Many well known makers use it with great results like Bill Burke on chef knives. I have it on well over a hundred knives, (some for over fifteen years) and have very little trouble with it coming back for repairs (well less than one percent).

Cure it well before you use it. These are already well cured but they should be acclimated to your area too.

Happy to answer any questions, Mark
