My 4sevens Titanium Whistle is Broken (I think)

I was one of the first to give the 4sevens 100db titanium whistle rave reviews. Unfortunately, I think mine is now broken. I do know that its no longer working, and I'm not sure why. As far as I know, there are only two parts—the titanium body and the white nylon insert. The insert is there, although I'm not sure all of it is there, and I don't have another for comparison. On the mouthpiece end, the insert is flush. It extend about 1/4 inch into the whistle, or only about half way to the notch. I would think that the insert should extend all the way to the notch, but again, I don't have another for comparison. A whistle is such a simple thing. What else could be wrong with it???

I fixed it (sorta.) I gave it to my wife. She blew on it with no affect. She then pushed on the insert and noticed that it moved. So I simply pushed it into the whistle until it was flush with the notch. Now it works fine. I'm bothered by this, but I think a little bit of epoxy should solve the problem. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it.

I feel bad in that I've recommended this particular whistle quite a bit. For me the fix was easy (I hope) because I happened to have JB Weld on hand. Others are going to have buy epoxy and go through the trouble for something that shouldn't be necessary. I mean, this is a $20 whistle!

I posted my troubles over on edcforums and two other (so far) replied with the same problem.

You know, the last time I blew on mine, it didn't work to expectations. I figured at the time that I had just let my lip slide over the notch, but I just checked, and my insert had moved, too. Pushing it back into place was easy enough, but it's disconcerting that it moved at all. Granted, my whistle bangs around on my keys all day long, but I figured they had that glued in there somehow.

Since I first got it, I had considered pushing out the nylon and trying to replace it with metal, so I just might go ahead with that now. I wonder if LocTite would hold it? Still, it's never a good thing when something practically new needs to be "fixed".
