I haven't started on a sheath for this one yet but I believe that it definitely should have a metal tip & throat sheath.

For this one I used a bit of historical influence and a bit of self expression. I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks,
Gary

That's extraordinary work and your Damascus is exceptional buddy....looking forward to seeing your sheath.

Gary, I think the handle looks pretty good, but needs a large gemstone on the pommel to look correct.

The blade needs to have a ground false edge and a triangular silhouette....otherwise it doesn't look right.

There are two modern makers that I have known to nail it...Joe Huddleston of BladeCatcher Knives....and Vince Evans.

It is hubris to think the desgn needs any interpretation in my opinion..although steel pattern choice is and should be, a matter of preference.

Thanks, gentlemen. I appreciate the comments.

Dudley,
I'm glad that you liked the steel. I had originally planned on a more complex carving of the handle but decided that the mosaic Damascus in the blade was "busy" enough that I left the handle carving a little more basic.

Steven,
I considered a gem stone on the pommel but decided that the silver butt cap will add the bling that it needs once engraved. (It may not show well in the photo but the blade has a 3" false edge.)

SpySmasher,
I was dubious about the feel of the hilt at first but it proved to be quite comfortable.
