Just got a BM14210 (Thanks for a great knife Chuck!!!!), it's their H & K line and I must say, it impressed the hell out of me!!!
It's my first Axis folder and the action is just jaw dropping SMOOTH.... I thought opening the D'Allara was smooth, but compared to this, it feels like a rusty hinge...(not running down the spydie, mind you, I really like the spydie but its just not in the same league as the Axis) The opening and closing action is just like a gliding motion, no resistance whatsoever.
The size is just nice for EDC in an office environment. Handle disappears completely in your hands when you use it, so only the blade is seen. If used discretely in the office, it's not likely to draw too much attention.
Knife has a very clean, crisp and sharp look to it. Utilises an open back design and grippy G-10 material that adds to the overall appeal of the knife. My previous EDC was a S30V Native. The moment I saw and held the BM, the Native dropped completely off the radar. (damn, spydie nuts must think I'm on a spydie bashing mission... hey, if I was, I wouldn't have bought 2 spydies in the first place... and ahead of any benchmades....)
Managed to get the 154cm blade wickedly sharp. I was testing the edge of the blade by running my thumb repeatedly across it and after a while, the scraps of skin that were scrapped off started collecting on the edge, I was using my thumb and forefinger to clean it off the blade lengthwise and before I knew it, the belly of the blade had already drawn first blood on my thumb. Damn sharp I tell you!!
F & F on the knife is a 10. Liners and handle blend seamlessly into each other. In fact I read some comment by STR somewhere that the H & K line of folders were manufactured to very very strict tolerances and holding one, I must say that it is definitely true.
Blade is perfectly centered when closed and locks like a vault when opened. No blade play whatsoever, not even the tinniest wiggle or give at all. Inspires confidence when using.
Its a joy to look at, hold and use. What more could I ask for from a production folder. If anyone is looking for a new EDC that is not too big, you can't go too far wrong with the BM14210. Absolute joy to own and use...
mmmm... now to look for its bigger brother, the BM14200....
Anyone else wants to chime in on the love for this great little knife???
