My newly acquired leather sheaths for the 3 CPK patterns in 2016 - 2017:

Just quoting that because it makes me feel good. Can't wait to get more of your knives to use and make some sheaths that will make Tolkien geeks happy. (Not judging, I am one.)

With your style, I'm betting some LOR leather would looked wicked cool.

Some awfully kind words fellas, thank you. I was lucky to have somebody like that silly bastard Casinostocks (no malice intended, he is a silly bastard, and a great guy) confident enough in my fledgling leather work that he was willing to go in on a project like this. It was not a quick or inexpensive thing to get done, and I was lucky that he was so patient and upbeat about the whole process. It was important to me that the fundamentals were rock solid and that it would be a tough, serviceable sheath for each of them. The carvings are functionally superfluous but I had this idea for a set of sheaths as soon as the EDC design was announced, I'm tickled pink that it saw the light of day. Couldn't go to a better set of knives either.

Had I not been so vain, this would've made me blush (somewhat). OTOH, I am really looking forward to your next project for a clip on type for front pocket carry

Thanks man.

Considering the quality level of knives you have and see, I'm not embarrassed to say I just about fell out of my chair when I read that. Thank you very much. I don't hate, or even dislike Kydex. It doesn't have a long shelf life from what I've seen though, it cracks and blisters and loses retention in the sunlight. It's much better for a short shelf life though, if you're ok with the blade getting scratched. If I were dealing in high end awesomeness knives like you show I would have Paul Long on speed dial. He is pretty much everything I want to become in my leather working path.

Actually, I've never thought, being a collector, that a knife necessarily needed a sheath. It just depends on the knife. But a few shout for one. And if the shout comes from one that's worthy of more than a local product, that is when I ship to Paul. You have your sights set on the right target, because he is a master, both in sheaths and language. He is the definition of a really nice person. And top rung on the leather sheath scene IMHO.

Hope your weekend is going well!

Bob

If my dumbass ever even gets mentioned in the same sentence as Paul Long I've done something right and I I would be okay with a random stroke of lightning coming right through my living room. I didn't mess around with who I wanted to emulate, Paul's sheaths are.. I dunno. I've never seen a knife in a Paul Long sheath I didn't wow over the sheath first. To do the level of work he does and still be accessible to us mooks is amazing. Considering the awesome knives you have through your hands I'm still gobstoppered by your comment Bob, thank you very much. Makes my withered angry heart all aflutter.

grogimus grogimus :

Just to add for 2017 to have a reference point for this thread of mine. The prized UF in Elmax and Cocobolo will probably be next in line but will it? ;)

I know, right?! Even a blind squirrel gets lucky once a while :p

Mat, you are becoming the number one fantasy sheath collector in the sub.

Pretty soon Grog is gonna have to release a special edition with your namesake.

Solid work Gentlemen!

Justin, the fact that I even managed to get a Shiv and a UF, is beyond my own wildest fantasies. Fantasy CPKs mandate fantastical sheaths ;)

Both the Sheath and knife are beautiful! Looks like I might have to get my Local Posse together here in Tennessee and pay you and Bob a "Friendly" visit:eek:

OT: speaking of your imaginary hillbilly friends, I don't know if any of you guys watch Mountain Men on the History Channel but sadly Preston Roberts who was a cast member recently passed away.

Tommy, I do have a "posse" available with substantially more artillery but publication of their images, all decked out in their dark blue suits, is frowned upon. :D:D:D

Please do Bob. It's a light Friday in here and I'd love to see the look of Tommy's face when he "Shivs" himself :D :D :D

Mat, I wasn't referring to the weaponry as much as those who carry, and the weaponry wasn't the Shiv. Can't explain anything more than that, other than they arrived in a helicopter earlier today in New Jersey. Alas, though, Tennessee is not on the route back.:D:D:(

Oh that "posse"!

In that case Tommy would definitely shiv himself if only he knew ;)
