My perfect (ideal) knife

Well, I've never heard anyone specifically badmouth Al Mar's liner lock. I know what you mean though. I think the liner lock is being used way too much lately. I've never had one fail on me; I'm just kind of bored with it.

I've never understood the draw of the SERE. It seems over priced to me, and the blade looks so thin compared to the handle.

Size of blade has nothing to do with size of handle. The blade should be sized in length and width and thickness with a particular kind of work in mind. Handle size should be related to the control needed for the blade. This can give us a knife like the DoDo with a short blade in a hand-filling handle or a CUDA Maxx where the big blade is almost as long as the handle, which is thin titanium to keep from overbalancing it.

Thought the same when I got my SERE 2K. For what it was designed for, it's great. Stout and just as capable as the Spyderco Manix. The liner lock on the 2K is one of the few I trust for hard duty.

Agree with robertmegar. Sounds like you should just go and get the BM710HS.

G-10 scales, VG-10 blade, amazing fit and finish, and a rock-solid lock. It's actually a great bargain.
