This pack is 2900 CI and is EXTREMELY comfortable especially carrying a medium sized, dense but often heavy SAR load. This pack is a hybrid external/internal frame. It was designed as a modular bag system and there are other bags you can mount on this frame but they are discontinued and you would have to track the other models down on the secondary market. The frame system flexes to your body and stays close and tight. I carried this pack with a 30 lb SAR load in the lava fields of Southern Washington and with all the large odd shaped stones tipping every which way I still felt like a gazelle with this pack on. It also avoids using the annoying triangular cinch straps that are normally required to pull the load into your hips on conventional packs.

This "silver" pack cloth is called "wild weave" and is a blend of 500 and 1000 denier pack cloth offering the benefits of both. 500 denier is lighter, better in wet conditions with a tighter weave (holds less water) and offers stitching at the seams more to hold onto. The 1000 denier is the champion in withstanding abrasion.

There are hydration bladder pockets down both sides of the pack bag accessed OUTSIDE the pack (the yellow pack cloth) which can also be used to store long slender items like water filter or whatever. The "beaver tail" or "shove it" panel on the back is great for carrying shed layers, snow shoes, rope or your helmet when not in use.

The top of the pack bag opens somewhat like a waterproof bag. It has two "Long Horns" the zipper runs across that are pulled over the top and buckled together. There are two fist sized pockets inside to organize small items near the top of the pack.

This pack is built to fit someone with a medium to medium large build.

2 Water bottle holsters keep water or other items at hand

It is different looking and it functions better than I can tell you. Well worth a try for the money...

$150 << SOLD >> PayPal shipped in CONUS. (Original cost was $340)

How big is medium to medium big? I'm interested in the pack, but I want to make sure it fits.

I am 5'9" and 180 - 190 lb (athletic) and it fits like a glove. There is room for adjustment and this pack is going to fit pretty much any average size guy pretty well.

... And yeah... those lava fields want to chew people up. Very easy to get lost for sure.

I called Mystery Ranch and they confirmed that a medium is designed to fit someone between around 5' 8" on up to around 6' 4".

I would say a safer height range would be 6' 2" or LESS so hopefully you are not a giant.

I'm no giant. I'm about 5'10", 155 lbs, with a longish torso and a size 28/29 waist. I'm more concerned with it being too big than too small. Thoughts?

Thanks for the extra effort on your behalf.

I think you are good to go. I am a little longer in the torso too. When I got it I think I had around a 30" waist and the waist belt was not about to meet in front or anything like that. Now I am a 32" and the waist belt is still a great fit.

If you think it'll fit I'll take it. I just need to check with a relative and see if I can get a secure place to ship it to. Thanks.

Roger that. I'll mark it pending. I put the pack on again and the frame and waist belt should fit you great.

You can go ahead and shoot me the payment information whenever. The only change will be that I'll pay extra for a signature if I can't get it delivered to him. Either way I'll also throw in a few bucks for insurance if that isn't included as well. Thank you.

Sounds good. Couldn't get a PM to you. PayPal info is "dunnsmail AT yahoo.com"

Should be able to get pack out today.
