Just found this. Won't post link because of forum rules. Any ideas, reviews, or thoughts on this knife in this steel?

N690 is similar to 154CM or VG10 in edge holding performance, assuming same hardness. It may actually be a tad better. Takes a very fine edge.

ENZO of Finland make the TRAPPER, one of the best bushcraft/survival knives ever made. Its a superb design, offering a great all round performance, an extremely popular knife in Europe its never been sold in Canada before.

I actually bought one last night. I also have the 115 12C27 Trapper too. Very great blades, the steel for the 115 is very thick for a Sandvik type steel! Loving it besides me screwing up the knife kit.

I'll see how Enzo does on their heat treatment. A heat treatment makes or breaks a knife and its steel.

I am quite curious Devatrap....What about your other post just a few days ago.

You could have updated if you received your knife? You have ordered it? What steel did you get?

How about these?

How does N690C steel compare to S30V steel?

S30V will hold an edge longer.

I can't talk as to relative toughness.

I agree with knarfeng, however, that is if everything is equal.

N690's advantages according to composition:

More corrosion resistant due to the Chrome and Molybdenum, finer grained then S30V as the Vanadium is under 0.2% that falls normally into a grain refinement instead of being a carbide former so easier to sharpen.

I got the knife, except it was a kit and I tried to make it with my father for fun. He stripped out both brass screws and now I can't use it. I ordered the new screws with the new knife. The N690C trapper knife is coming next Saturday, so I can make a review by then. But the 115 Trapper in 12C27 is very sharp, nice to the hand, and I would love to be using it if my father hadn't stripped out the screws.

Got the knife today! It is amazing! It's the sharpest knife I've had out of the box. It cut right through crumpled up newspaper like it was nothing! Bohler knows its steel! It's perfectly balanced and feels really comfortable in the hands. It has a lanyard loophole and it very light. Sheath is leather and still high quality. I think this may be the new Fallkniven F1 knife. The steel has the same or better properties of VG-10, and the knife feels just as good! Made in Finland, so it's Scandinavian. I hope to see Enzo make more knives of N690C steel!

I was going to try to contact you to see where you got it.But I don't see a way to PM or email you.I put a Elver in D2 together and was going to do a Trapper if I could find a blade or kit in N690Co i would try it

Get it from Brisa. They have the knife blades and the full knife. They have all types of kits for it. They seemed to have screwed up the price as all the prices are the same, even for woods like ebony. BEST KNIFE I'VE HAD FROM EUROPE! MAYBE BEST I'VE EVER HAD!
