So ladies and boogers, I happened to wander into a new outdoor store..came across the Nalgene canteens. They only had red and blue, so I chose blue..seems to make ice water seem colder by that blue color. They are not rigid like the bottles, but flexible and shaped the same as the g.i. canteens, and stamped as bpa free. They come with black caps, which can be replaced and fit in the g.i. style cover. I carried blackberry tea inside one daily for over two weeks..yes, it stank of tea..until i washed it out..then neither smell nor after taste was left over.
The material with which they are made is both flexible and durable, seems to resist heat and freezing, while not deforming under either. I paid, I think, eight or nine dollars each..a good deal in my opinion. They are actually quite nice, as well as being tough..due to their shape..they take up less space in a pack. These bottles seem to come in a range of colors, including blue..red..tan..green..and grey.
