Recommendation? Naniwa Pro - 400 or 600?

I'm very new to knife sharpening, and I know Naniwa Pro is overkill, but I've kind of been obsessed with researching and trying this, so going for it :-)

CURRENT: King 1000/6000 combo

I recently bought the Naniwa Pro 600 based on review in this video

The plan is to have just two stones: 600 + 2000

But having done some more checking around, I'm wondering if I should send it back and get the 400?

e.g. 400 + 1000 + 3000

IF the 600 cuts faster than 400 (which some are clearly disputing), and I don't need any major chip work / reprofiling (I'd get an, I dunno, 150-250 for this?), then 2 stones may be sufficient?

Both are excellent stones, I have had the 400 for a couple years and just recently got the 600 because I saw one for under 60 bucks new and it came with base and cleaning stone.
Also the ones with base are 5mm thicker than USA Professional model.

With steels like 1095, AUS-8, 4116, and SK-5 it seems like the 600 grit is faster and more aggressive than the 400.
The scratch pattern is slightly finer on the 600 but not by much.

Like I said I don’t have a lot of time on the 600 but so far it seems promising.
I think I like the feel and feedback of the 600 better also.

I think you will be happy with the 600.
Really the only drawback for me is that it is a dark colored stone, I prefer lighter colored stones and that isn’t a big deal for me at all.

Going from the Chosera 600 to the King 1K/6K is a good progression, I still use my King stones on cheaper kitchen knives for friends.
For beat up and chippy knives I like the Baryonyx American Mutt and Manticore and the Nubatama 220 is an excellent large stone.

Thanks!! I decided to keep the 600 (and I’ll pair it with a 2000 later)

Strangely mine doesn’t have any writing on the side - it’s supposed to be the newer, recently updated model, perhaps they stopped doing that? (Looks flatter too)

Tried it out last night, 600 cuts great!

Yours is the “Professional Stone” which is for the USA market.
It is the same as the Chosera.
It’s nice to hear you like it, the Chosera stones are fun to use and slow wearing.

I did a bunch more sharpening on the 600 and I am more and more impressed with it.
It is cutting just as fast if not quicker than the 400.

I’ll probably try out some harder steels like Hap40 this weekend and see how it does on that.

I thought Naniwa recently brought out the new "Professional" line which replaces Chosera? (As I understand it, Chosera line not sold any more?)

Here's where I got mine from:https://www.knivesandtools.co.uk/en/pt/-naniwa-professional-stone-p306.htm

20mm height

(Sorry for the silly questions!)

I'm going on a knife sharpening course in South London next Tuesday, so hoping to improve my technique - and bring my new stones along
