This 3V Field Knife from Nathan Carothers just arrived today. Normally I go in for stag and damascus, but this one just called to me and I answered. The quality of the fit and finish is amazing, and the CPM-3V steel has a special heat treat which brings it to 62 HRc with lots of corrosion resistance. 9.75" overall, with a 4.3" edge length. Handle is G10.

Feels awesome in the hand . . . this will see lots of use. Thanks, Nate.

Mine is also a user, and so far has been very impressive.

And let's be sure to give a shout out to Lorien for his collaboration with Nathan on this project.

No doubt Lorien has a wealth of experience, and it shows in the final product. The balance and ergonomics are as good as it gets.

thanks for the good words!
here is a thread on this knife with some testing and stuff; http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1270310-In-the-field-with-Nathan

Here's mine, from the first batch in A2. I've been beating the hell out of this thing for a couple months; cutting roots, chopping brush, digging holes and throwing it.

Yeah, I know, throwing knives is bad. But, you know what? I actually designed this knife to be thrown! The handle profile and contouring lends itself to a nice and smooth, controlled release. Nathan got the balance perfect.

Sure, there are a few chips missing from the edge, and it's rolled over in spots, but keep in mind that I haven't sharpened or even honed this knife since I got it. It's still pretty damn keen. I also haven't cleaned it, and when I get back from my little adventures, this knife stays untouched in its sheath until the next time.

We have another project underway that I'm very excited about! I'm really looking forward to seeing it come to life.

Thanks to my friend Dudley for posting all his knives from Nathan, so I went and got one. Actually another BF member that likes to be anonymous pushed me along, too. I'm impressed with the knife for what it is, a Field Knife, mine will most likely go in a BOB of sorts that I keep in my Jeep.

Lorien is doing a great job of working with folks like Nathan, look forward to the next collaboration.

My Carothers field knife in 3V arrived yesterday and I'm REAL happy. What a fantastic user this knife will be. I ordered the blue G10 off the sale on site here last Friday.

Nice, I hate seeing knives that have names like "Field" or Camp" knife, and all it does is sit in a safe.. Or names like "Armageddon" how would you know its Armageddon? You never even batoned wood with it..
