We build a two man survival shelter that we are going to use this winter. The large two-man lean to type shelter was reinforced using several y sticks to hold the pressure of the numerous boughs and beams. Building this shelter took longer than I expected but was great fun. One great thing about natural shelters is that they leave no artificial trace after they are used.

Thanks for sharing your work - it's hard to document work-in-progress projects, and the edit, etc.

Lean to type shelters are time consuming for sure as you noted, more than some other options, like a debris huts.

But, debris huts/structures might save time, but lean-to designs are a more versatile space for longer periods of time - roomier in general, you can do work under them when the weather dictates this need, even hanging out is easier and more comfortable, plus having a fire that produces legitimate heat near the structure is possible.

Winter has come here in SW Montana, too - just got blasted for the last 2 days....

Enjoyed your video - thanks again.

Montana looks like a beautiful place to live in !

In a real survival situation I would just make a quick debris shelter with a fire in front
