Need to replace my wedding band and looking to have a tri-color Mokume Gane ring made. Ya'll have any recommendations on great ring makers or knifemakers who do this on the side? Thanks

Check out Chris Ploof as well(yeah yeah I know his name sounds funny) he is pricey but offers some pretty interesting jewelry, customer service is excellent and informative as well.

+1 for Chris Ploof. His work is EXPENSIVE, but beautiful and he stands by his work no matter what. My wife and I were going to go with Mokume rings from Chris Ploof, but we went in another direction, especially when we saw how expensive the rings were. Did I mention they are expensive?

What direction did you go in? Anyone else you came across that does good work?

Chuck does Devon make actual rings? I didn'tsee any mention of that on his site

btboone: Have a link to your work?

My work is on www.boonerings.com I have titanium, black zirconium, cobalt chrome, and stainless with mokume, meteorite, wood inlays, lasered, with precious metals, etc. Mokume is quite an artform, and rings made totally of it are often in the $2000 to $3000 range. Inlaying mokume into titanium or cobalt chrome is a bit more reasonable, and makes for a stronger ring.

I like your stuff! I may order a new one here shortly. I have been looking for something like this for awhile, I love the way these look! BT, you should shoot me your email info.

We actually went with the jeweler who made my wife's engagement ring and what he did was take a White Gold band and give it a chipped look. It's not even close to Makume, but when he showed us what he was talking about I ended up really liking it so that's what we went with.

When gold is $1600 per ounce to start with, then you need to make a perfect billet with different colors of gold, (with lots of waste) then roll it, work it into mokume, then finish it into a ring, the price by definition has to be extremely high. The good new is that there is a lot of alternatives to an all mokume ring these days. Precious metals can be inlaid in patterns in other metals to get the same design intent at a fraction of the cost.

@ Boone, i ordered the engagement ring for my fiancee from you before i deployed to Afghanistan a few years ago, it was Ti with silver inlays. Its still going strong and looking great. When its time for a wedding band ill be looking for it at your site.

My experience with Boone rings was exceptional. I highly recommend his work to anyone in the market for a ring, whether for yourself or someone special.I've also had my eye on your Tear Jerker for literally years now (so maybe that will be my band) ;)

boone my girl and i love your stuff. drooling over everything! when we get back on our feet, we'd like to order acouple rings up sometime.
