I know there are many threads in Wilderness survival section about flashlights and there's the candlepowerforums :D  , but I want to know the oppinions of highly respected by me Hogs and Piglets on the choice of my new flashlight. I currently own a surefire E1L outdoorsman (which was taken away by my wife and became her favorite user:cool:) and a nitecore ez123 (my edc light - which I like a lot ) Since we moved to the countryside I decided I need a more powerfull flashlight to use around the house and on dog walks. I'd like it to be not too big - so I could carry it in a pocket. I also would like it to run on CR123A and on 18650 cells and I would like it to have quite nice throw but I'm not after a typical thrower. Rather a light with good throw and also a good and workable spill.
After reading a lot I narrowed my choice to 3 lights:

- olight M20 warrior with R5 led
- eagletac t20c2 MKII also R5 led
- Dereelight DBS V3 also R5 led (I know it doesn't run on both cr123a and 1865 but from what i read it has the best throw...)

Do any of you guys uses any of these lights? If so - what's your oppinion? Or maybe I should be looking for something else?

I don't use any of those. I use bored surefire c2 lights with Malkoffs. The new 18650 2900mah aw cells will work great. I look at flashlights just like knives I want 100% reliability and no gimmicks.

The stock 200 lumen surefires look promising as well.

I've got a surefire 9z i've had since the early 90's. Still works great i've used it alot on fishing trips sometimes three nights a week. It's about 6inches long very handy and 90 lumens of light. Not bad for a compact pocket light. I turned it on one time and got distracted for a couple of minutes and stood it on end bulb down. When i picked it up and realized it was on it was very hot and the glass lens was partially melted. So i would assume you could also start a fire with it if need be. I know its kind of outdated i guess but it works for me.

I have a Dereelight with the R5. It is awesome bright. I also have 2 Surefires and an Elzetta with the Malkoff drop-ins. I love them the most.

It really depends on your budget. There is something for everyone for sure. Way to many actually. ;)
I'm a huge fan of Oveready dot com if they sell it, it rocks.
My 6P with Triple XP-G 1100 lumen P60 Drop In rocks. your going to spend about 3 hun for this setup.

this is another one of my favorites with a little less performance(680 lumen) and money from a differant builder.

Oveready.com either a C2 or 6P bored out for 18650 with a Malkoff. The M60 has more throw but the M61 is more balanced. I have the 6P with M61 Warm drop in. I love 18650.

I know it's not on your list, but I carry a Surefire 6P LED.

It surves as a good EDC, runs on 123 litium ion, and you can find them at some hardware stores for about 80 bucks.

costco.com lifegear search, 2 (360) lumen for 99$ milspec. 2 210 Lumen for $50, cant beat it, trust me. get tenergy rechargeable batteries.and buy a battery charger, it will pay off:thumbup:

You buy Busses... Tough as HELL and made in the USA.

Do the same for flashlights and buy RA LIGHTS (aka HDS Systems). The Ra Twisty is enough of a pocketable light, designed and assembled in the USA, can use CR123A or 18650 cells. And it's TOUGH!

(click!)

Oh, and Buy Brown makes holsters for them. Thanks Dave!

SUREFIRE is the only light I know of..... sorry but I just think (know?) their quality is above and beyond......

A sweet pocket sized light they make with 200 lumens is the LX2.... very sweet light... tons of throw... long battery life too.

I've got a 6P led defender with the toothed bezel. Will that fit, and what exactly does it do?

If you get the M61 it will run longer and brighter with a higher quality beam. I like the Warm tinted ones for better color rendition.
