Hey I was just wondering if I could get some advice on getting a Balisong blade (blade only) shipped to Canada and if you think it will make it or not. basically I was going to just tape the sharp part of the blade and put it a little zipper case and claim it as a "s35vn steel upswept recurve clip point fixed blade HTS Code 8211.92" and thanks in advance any help would greatly be appreciated!

Well since these are all in one place here's the short answer. Don't.

Longer? Don't try it.

Ytho? The CBSA x-rays all the incoming packages regardless of the carrier and if you want to get yourself and the recipient on the list this is a great way to do it. Balis have been prohibited in Canada for a very long time and the border agents know what to look for. Tape won't change the x-ray image.

Wasn't meant to hide it in x-ray that was just to be respectful to CBSA incase they did have to open the package. I was asking about it holding up as being classified as fixed blade because the handles aren't on it?
I was also going to claim HTS Code 8211.92 which means I'm claiming it as a fixed blade when sending it out what do u think?

You must have missed the part where I said don't.

Get on one of those lists and you're on for a long time. Some people never get off the list. And that's not just for mail. If you or the customer ever travel outside of Canada prepare to spend some time in a small windowless room explaining what you're doing repeatedly.

It's not worth it. Sure maybe you can hope for a busy day and falling through the cracks but hope is never a good plan.

A loose blade with 2 holes in it will be a dead giveaway. No one will mistake that for a fixed blade knife.

It could get you 5 years in jail for importing a prohibited item in to Canada. You'll most likely serve 1 year if that worth the chance for you. My GF is a lawyer and she told me, you don't hear about it but there are many court cases at the moment involving Balisong and automatic knives imports where people got caught. They don't prosecute them all but they pick a few just to make a point. It could be you.

Canada is really pathetic in this regard. I mean, they’re that eager to lock people up for a knife that opens with a spring or a knife that flips around in a flashy way? They must have nothing better to arrest people for.

I mean, they have to know these laws are stupid victimless crime nonsense. I seriously doubt any stabbings in Canada are done with balisongs or automatics.

Knives are not even the half of it, but that's a discussion for a different forum.

Importing Bali parts is a felony, OP, you just asked in a public forum for advice on committing a crime.

Think we are done here.
OP asked for advice and has been uniformly told that his proposal is a very bad idea. And I agree with that advice.
