I was hoping some of the members on this site could direct me in finding a good AK-47 or AK-74 Bayonet in good condition with the rubber or poly fiber sheath that is used to cut electrical wires without getting shocked. The few I see in barely decent condition or incomplete are running $89 on up on EBAY and way overpriced for their condition. I been trying to find links but I been seeing places selling these for up to $100 in fair to barely adequate condition.
Can someone please help me out on finding these for $50 or less?

I prefer to avoid the Bakelite handle models but if necessary I will look into buying one. Reason being The upgraded ones have a steel end cap which allows for use as a hammer or impact tool.
As far as country of origin I don't mind if it's Russian, Bulgarian, Romanian, or any Eastern bloc country where these were made.
Here is a picture of the knife or it's variants I am talking about.
Is this worth paying $100 for including shipping? Something tells me it is not.

I got used Romanian with correct insulation piece,
very good Polish (not for sale)
or brand new German one (my favorite) but have two :^)

BTW = correct Polish or Russian in very good condition cost much more than $50-100

Beware of floods of reinvented genuine reproductions made by my favorite kountry

I doubt you'll find a good one for $50. Looks like a good one would be triple that. Is it worth it? Depends on what you want it for. As a knife, it's mostly useless. It was designed for one purpose, stabbing people. I have an AKM type 1. Interesting piece of military memorabilia but that's about it.

Make that 2 purposes. Stabbing and cutting wire fences. I just want one to collect. I know those in very good on up condition with matching serial numbers can go up in price.

As a classic curious cat I checked eBull right now !
Started with German bayonets AK-47
Magic, MAGIC happens :^)
Hundreds, literally hundreds+ new German AK-47 are for sale
They probably found that long and deep digged STASI storage bunker
I wonder only how it's possible that bunker is located in Kaulifiornia ????
Second one in Delawhere ?!

GROSS

I can remember in the 1990's when I could have bought these for $10 each with matching scabbards and numbers. Boy I wish I had done so back then. I did find one on Ebay. A Yugo model in supposedly good condition for $44 and bought it.

I am still on the search for a vintage Very good to excellent or mint condition piece for my collection. I am going to hold off on that for time being.
And I may even redo the one I ordered with some Micarta handles and polish it up if it is in rough condition. It seems the biggest issues with these types of knives are broken or rounded tips at the very end. Nothing my Worksharp can't fix.

Try you local flea market or antiques shop. Unless you are looking for an early model, these are very common bayonets.

Gun Broker?
I ordered a good condition Yugoslavian AK 47 bayonet for modifying and camp / beater use. And I am going to find a very good to excellent condition one for strict collecting.
I am going to check a few of the Gun brokers and military surplus store in my area as well.

Maybe they do not counterfeit yugo :^)
Yet

Anyway I can't remember $10 good bayonets in 1990'
Except obvious junk

Good luck with new old stuff

I can think of a lot better knives for camping and beating on than a bayonet.

I am not afraid to try a fair to good condition one out for such a purpose.
I really think the Russian/ Eastern bloc AK-47 knives may be a good choice as they are built with being a Bayonet / survival knife with full tang and can also mount on an AK-47 for bayonet use. A knife style edge, hammer, Clip point blade with some belly, saw back, and wire cutter with electrical protection in the handle of the knife and sheath to avoid shock cutting live wires. Seems pretty legit to me.
If I am wrong. So be it. Worth blowing $45 to find out. And I may even do a Convex edge and replace the handles with Micarta if I like the performance.
If not. Then at the very worst. I get to add it to my cheap bayonet / knife collection. Sell it, trade it, or gift it to a friend. No loss on my end either way.
This knife is not built like a standard bayonet. And I find the design light years ahead of it's time and relevant even in todays date and age.

We shall see. Just ordered one from EBAY. I don't have high hopes in it being in excellent condition. But I think I will be ok. If I like it I may do Micarta handles and throw a convex edge on it to use as a cheap survival camp knife. If not. It will go with the small bayonet / knife collection I have on my wall.
Thanks for the good luck wishes. It's all a crap shoot. Just like life.
