Need help. Garberg or alternative?

So I’ve decided to buy a new knife and I’m really liking the look and the reviews on the Mora Garberg. Was considering getting this in stainless (red handle for better visibility) but I was wondering if there is a better alternative. I know “better” is subjective but I was hoping for some opinions.
In Canada I can get the garberg plus the ferro rod attachment for under $200 CAD.
I was looking at the Peltonen M07 and the Terava Jakkaripukko (please excuse my spelling)110. These will probably cost around the same but without the little survival add on to the sheath.
Mainly using the blade for making fires, general camping stuff and maybe some batoning. Mostly I just want it to be high quality and really functional. Thanks!

Greetings fellow Canuck! The Garberg is an awesome choice, although I'd go with carbon steel. Also, Terava is another great option. I have the 240. Top quality build and their leather sheaths are super nice too!

The Gray Bearded Green Beret has a really informative video about the Mora you're considering. Check it out!

Thanks ! Great video. Seems like someone you can trust as well! I keep reading different things about the stainless vs carbon. Why did you go with carbon?

I freely admit I am a huge Terava fan. I think the quality and price of the knives and sheaths are fantastic. The Terava 110 is a great knife. I love mine and would not hesitate to count on it for a ‘survival’ knife. It is one of those knives that makes you smile after you use it, because it can do so much well. Super comfortable to use, extremely durable, great design/sheath, and steel. The handle is big enough to allow for gloves and is not slippery when wet. Not a handsome knife but a great one.

The 140 adds a bit more length if you are wanting it. If you want more chopping ability, the 200 or 240 are great. The 240 is simply one of the best outdoors knives imho. I use mine frequently and just love it. The extended handle allows for multiple grips and for much more chopping power than expected. Works well as a draw knife as well. Terava does a great job with 80CRV2- it holds an edge well, is tough, and sharpens easily.

Heck- get a 240 and a 110 as a companion!🤣

Good luck with your search.

The victorinox venture while a lot thinner looks like a fun alternative.

Keeping with the Scandinavian theme, Strömeng makes some really good mid size knives that would work well for your purposes....This is the KS5F, with an 1/8" thick blade made from silver steel, which is similar to Hitachi White Paper steel.

The peltonen and terava are good options.
I just got a cold steel peace maker 2 which has a blade like a kansbol but the tang is full length. Its only $30 so it might be worth just trying out.
I’ve had 2 garbergs and they just aren’t my thing.
A mora classic, companion or 511 would do the job.

I want to get a Helle Viking sometime soon.

Condor makes the terasaur which was designed to compete with the garberg.

You probably can’t go wrong with the Garberg. If you decide something slightly less that positively bulletproof is acceptable, the Kansbol is a great option at a far lower price point. The Tevava puukos are tried and true. I’ve got the Skrama 200 and the thing’s an absolute beast of a knife.

Terava makes some of the the best price to performance knives around. The stainless Garberg is overall more durable than the 110. I like the Garberg but prefer look, feel and performance of the Jaakaripuuko slightly more.
